Engravity

737NG CDU

Congratulations on the purchase of your Engravity 737NG CDU. This unit is designed
to work with Project Magenta software in conjuction with Microsoft Flight simulator.
Before starting, we advice to read this document very carefully. Please follow the
guidelines as described in the manual, before connection your CDU to your PC.

Before unpacking check if the following items are included in the box.

The box contains;

A. CDU/FMS
B. 12V Adapter
C. USB-cable
D. Instruction CD

If for some reason one of these parts are missing, please send an email to
sales@737cockpit.com. Please mention the serial number, date of purchase and name of
reseller.

Warranty

The CDU comes with a full year of warranty on all technical parts.
The CDU should only be used with the supplied 12V adapter. The electronics are protected
by a housing and should not be removed.
Note that when the CDU is removed from its housing, for instance if the unit is build
in a 737 setup, the warranty will void.

Warranty can only be given when the unit is used for personal use in hobby environment
under normal conditions.

In case of a technical defect, contact 737cockpit, by sending an email to


support@737cockpit.com, describing your defect.
System requirements

before using your CDU the following is required;

• a registered version of Project Magenta Software


• in case a second CDU will be installed, the
additional F/O version of Project Magenta is also required
• a free USB-port
• AC mains connection for DC Adapter ( 100-240V AC,DC
Output 12V 15W)

Installation

STEP 1

The CDU will be connected through a USB port.


Before connecting the CDU to your PC, install the USB_RS232 driver.

The driver can be found on the CD labeled as CP2101_drivers.


Follow the instructions during installation.

After installation of the driver, connect the USB-cable from your computer to the CDU
and power up the CDU by using the supplied adapter.

The CDU will come up as an extra COM port. (You can later change this COM-port
number to another value if necessary or if conflicts occur. See for details step 3)

The default baudrate is 38400

STEP 2

Install the latest update from Project Magenta.

This can be found on www.projectmagenta.com.

Go to updates page and download the latest Boeing style CDU update.
Follow the instructions.

STEP 3
Check COM port settings

Finally check the COM port settings on your PC and in the CDU.INI file from Project Ma-
genta.

Click on Start
Open control panel
Click on System - hardware - device manager
Check the CDU COM port number in ports (COM&LPT)

Go to the PM directory and localise the CDU.INI file

Open the file and check if EngravityComm= (X) has the same port number. If not change
the (X) to the correct port number and save the file.

After completing these steps your CDU is now ready for use !

How to use your CDU


737cockpit has not include a manual of how to operate your CDU. On the internet there are
many sources available on how to program a CDU.

After powering up your CDU the lights will come up and a startup screen will appear. The
screen will then go blank, indicating that the CDU is in a standby mode and ready for retrei-
ving information from Project Magenta.

You can select and adjust your personal settings in a special user menu.

Press the S+EXEC buttons simultaneously to enter the personal user page.

Now your see that, next to the LSK- and RSK keys, there are several options for adjusting
personal preferences. Use the keypad to enter the values. The changes will appear in the
scratchpad. press the corresponding LSK/RSK keys to confirm the changes.

LSK1 LCD contrast Here you can adjust the contrast settings. A value
between 0-100 (%) can be entered Default = 50%
LSK2 LCD Backlight Adjust Select (on) if you want the backlight of the LCD be
controlled by the rotary switch placed above the exec.

no want to regulate the LCD backlight manually.
Default = on
LSK3 Key click You can choose if you want to hear a keyclick when
pressing the keys on the CDU. A value of 0-10 is
available, where 0 stands for off and 1 - 10 stands for
the lenght of the keyclick. Default = 1
LSK4 Baudrate The default value is 38400. DO NOT CHANGE
THIS VALUE FOR USE WITH PROJECT
MAGENTA
RSK1 CDU-type Default is GENERIC. DO NOT CHANGE FOR
USE WITH PROJECT MAGENTA
LSK6 exit setup Press to exit the user page and return to normal
operation mode

Firmware update

The CDU is designed to allow future firmware updates.


In this case we can ensure that your CDU will keep up to date and allow the cdu to be
used for other types of aircraft in the future aswell as other software programms.

The procedure for updating the firmware is very simple.


In case a firmware update is necessary, an announcement will be made on the
www.737cockpit.com website.

This product is made for use with flight simulation and should in no case be used in real avia-
tion.

This product should only be used in a flight simulation environment and is intended to be used

This product is sold for personal use, It may not be resold to third parties as a commercial
activity, neither as parts or as part of a commercial flight simulator not produced by Engravity
without written approvement.

A 1 year warranty is given on the products electronics. All products are being tested prior to
shipping.
The warranty provided by Engravity and her associated partners apply only for your use,
and not for resale, from Engravity or your reseller. The warranty does not cover the repair or
exchange of a product resulting from misuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or
operating environment, improper maintenance by the user, or failure caused by a product for
which Engravity is not responsible. Engravity and her associated partners will not be respon-
sible for misfunction of the product due to software changes and updates made by third par-
ties which causes conflicts with the use of the product. The warranty is voided by removal or
alteration of the product or parts indentification labels.

In case the product needs to be repaired, an email should be send to support@737cockpit.com.


The nature of the problem should be described aswell as the serial number, date of purchase
and name of reseller.
Shippingcosts for the product for warranty are never included in the warranty. Shipping costs
towards Engravity as well as shipping to the customer will be paid by the client. Engravity is
allowed to require a pre-payment of returning shipping costs in advance.
