Praluent is an injectable medication that is used to lower cholesterol. Praluent is supposed to be

stored in the refrigerator and is to be taken out thirty to forty minutes before use. To administer
Praluent you must check the expiration date and then check that the fluid is clear. In addition,
you will need alcohol prep pads and a sharp dispenser.

First, you must wash your hands and then choose the spot of injection. After choosing the area of
injection you will clean the area with an alcohol swab, then hold the pen in the middle with your
dominant hand and next you will pull off the blue top with your other hand. Once the blue top is
pulled off you will be ready to inject.

Second, to inject the contents of the pen you will hold the pen at a ninety-degree angle firmly
pressing against the skin until you cannot see the yellow safety tip. After doing this you will
press the green button to eject the medication then will hear a click and will have to hold the
position for twenty seconds. When no more fluid is seen in the chamber medication has been
completely administered.

Finally, you will remove then pen and apply alcohol to the area without rubbing, then you will
dispose of the pen accordingly. At this point you have administered Praluent then repeat in two
weeks.
