SIGNIFICANCE OF SODIUM CHLORIDE

Have you ever eaten a food without a taste? Did you enjoy it? Imagine eating a pizza or
any of your favorite food without a salt. Can you imagine what it tastes like, would it still be
your favorite? I don’t think SALT!

Salt or also known as Sodium Chloride has long been used for flavoring and for
preserving food. It has also been used in dyeing and bleaching, and the production of soap and
chlorine. Based on studies the body uses sodium to maintain fluid levels. Having a balance of
fluid and sodium in the body is essential to the health of the heart, liver, and kidneys, because
fluid-sodium balance regulates blood fluids and prevents low blood pressure. It is also use to
absorb and transport nutrients to our body.

Thus, the chemical formula of Sodium chloride is NaCl, which is known as table salt,
rock salt, sea salt, and the mineral halite. It is an ionic compound consisting of cube- shaped
crystals composed of elements sodium and chlorine. It is easily soluble in water and partially
soluble or insoluble in other liquids. In its aqueous state, NaCl acts as a good conductor of
electricity due to the free movement of the ions. It has a melting point of 801°C and a boiling
point of 1,413°C.

Did you know that Salt can also lessen your stress? So, if you are having a bad day just
soak your stress away with bath salts. It is a preferred method of aromatherapy since they're rich
in minerals, help with muscle pain, and leave skin feeling baby-soft. Speaking of soft or smooth
skin, now a days, I know that some of us are skin care addicts, admit it! So, here’s a tip for you,
just use salt as it helps to cleanse pores deeply, balance oil production and thwart bacteria that
can instigate breakouts and acne. As we can see, Salt has been used widely in different aspect of
our lives.
