The Woman in the Window is Netflix`s brand new psychological thriller which came out this year,

2021. It`s based on same named novel. It stars Amy Adams as Anna Fox, Fred Hechinger as Ethan
Russel and Gary Oldman as Alistar Russel. It was meant for the cinema, but due to Covid pandemic
it`s shown on Netflix.

It`s set in small American town, and all film is based on one neighbourhood. Anna is agoraphobic,
meaning she gets anxiety if she leaves the house. She is also drug addict and alcoholic. Her
heighbours are Alistar and Jane Russel, and their son Ethan. Ethan is a troubled teenager, but Anna is
a child therapist so she helps him out. Due to some events she meets Jane ones. They were pretty
much drunk and Jane draw her a picture, which she kept in her drawer. Anna once heard sreaming
from their house, and the neighbours said it`s nothing. Because of that, she stars spying on them.
One day she was standing on the window and saw Jane getting stabbed by her husband. Anna calls
the police and went out to help, but due to her health problems she faints. She woke up in hospital
and tells police the whole story of what she saw, but no one believed her because she`s ill. They
have talked to Anna`s doctor, and they know that she is delusional because she keeps mentioning Ed
and Olivia, her husband and daughter which are dead. They said that Jane is fine, but they bring
woman that she has never seen before. Alistar said that she even never met his wife. Anna even
shows picture that Jane drawn for her as a proof that they met. The film has an unexpected ending.
Ethan finally admits the truth to Anna, and same night came to her house and tried to kill her.
Suddenly, due to accident Ethan dies and police arrived and arrested Allistar. Police apologised for
not beliving her.

This film is full of intrigue. Good thing about it is that it`s full od excitement and unexpected
events. Acting, filming and special effects are very good and very professional. Bad thing about it is
that no one believed Anna, and it shows stereotypes which we see in the end, are not always right.
Everything will be solved sooner if someone belived her, and maybe ending wouldn`t be tragical.

This film, or originally novel is based on a true story so I would recommend it because it`s eye
opening. My first impression was that it`s boring, but as I thought about it I must admit that I
noticed some deeper meaning to it. I wouldn`t recommend it to people who cant` stand the justice…
