Congratulations on your official interest in applying for the Karen Ty Art

Award.The award is given to a Grade 8 student who exhibits passion,


persistence, and a true love of visual arts, and whose portfolio shows
“development beyond expectations.”

Please carefully follow the directions below. Your ability to follow directions
is also noted in the selection process:

1. Create a Google Doc. The title includes your name in the title along with
KAREN TY ART AWARD.

2. Place 2-3 of your best works from each Art class you have taken in either grade
7 and/or grade 8. The images must be ½ a page in size. You are welcome to
include an additional 2-3 pieces that you’ve created outside of ISM created
during grade 7 and 8 for submission.

A. You may include more than one view, especially if it is a sculpture.


B. If it 2-dimensional (flat) work, please include “enlarged” or “detailed” images of
highly skilled areas of your work

3. Under each image include:


A. A credit line of the work (Name of Art class, title of artwork, media used,
approximate size).

B. A description of the artwork.

What were the most successful parts of the work?
What challenges did you overcome when creating the work?
What did you learn most from the experience?

4. Answer the following question(s)…

A. How does Art impact your daily life? Explain.


B. Are your artistic abilities a gift or something you have earned? Explain.
C. Is the end result more important than the process or is the process more
important than the end result? Explain.

5. All SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY Monday, April 24th.
