In the old times, elves both of light and of darkness used to live together in a single empire.

This coexistence, much like the one of their patrons was not a happy one. The dark elves were
deemed lesser by their fair brethren and thus they were pushed to the bottom of social hierarchy
and were exploited for hard labour.

Into this world Xaroïluth was born to a dark elf mother, fathered as a bastard by a high elf aristocrat.

What could be regarded as luck in his misfortune - being assigned a life of a servant - Xaroïluth did
not take lightly. He saw humiliation and injustice in this fate of his. Hellbent on breaking the
established order of slavery, in the age of 173, on the 2173rd yearly celebration - The Day of The
Empire - Xaroïluth concocted a poison. Poison so strong and vile, not even the protective or healing
magic of elves could avert its effect - its victim was destined to die on the dusk of the day they were
poisoned. That day was the first of the last days of the old elven empire. All members of the Highest
council and all of their descendants succumbed to Xaroïluth's Ire after taking it with their celebratory
toast. The ossified aristocracy of the empire could not recover from such blow.

The empire broke up and so did dark from the high elves. Taking the name Drow, they took flight
into the Underdark and thus started a new era in their history.

As a servant Xaroïluth was also a taster and so his act of rebellion and revenge did not go unpaid. But
neither it would go unnoticed. Mortor, amused by his deeds, offered to Xaroïluth to choose his own
afterlife. At the same time Lolth invited Xaroïluth to live with her in her realm and he accepted this
invitation, becoming a saint of the Drow, poison making and righteous retribution. His symbol is a
scale tipped by a flask of poison.
