St. Patrick’s Day is the feast day of St.

Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland. Originally
celebrated with religious feasts and services,
St. Patrick’s Day became a secular
celebration of Irish culture when it reached
the United States alongside Irish
immigrants. It’s celebrated on March 17th.

Here you’ll find some ideas to make this

date even more special.

St Patrick’s Day Wreath
Materials
•Paper plate
•Craft paint: rainbow colors
•Construction paper: black, yellow and green
Procedure
• Start by cutting out the central circle of the paper plate to
form a rim.
• Paint the paper plate rim in rainbow colors. As an alternative,
use crayons or markers.
• cut out shapes of the pot of gold and the shamrock.
• Use a small circle punch to make the coins out of yellow
construction paper. You can also use golden glitter foam for a
more authentic look. Glue the coins onto the pot.
• Glue the pot at the bottom of the paper plate.
• Glue the flour clover leaf at the top of the paper plate.

Popsicle Stick Leprechaun Hat
Materials

• Popsicle sticks
• Green and black gouache paint
• Paint brushes
• Tacky craft glue or hot glue
• Green ribbon
• Scissors
• Yellow and black felt

Mini Leprechaun Hat
Materials

•An old and clean Ice cream Tub

•Washi Tape – Black
•Green & Black acrylic paint
•Blue satin ribbons
•Hole punch
•Paint Brush
•Gold Glitter paper
•Scissors
Procedure

• Wash and clean an old empty tub of yoghurt or

Ice-cream. We used the 1/2 liter one.
• Using a brush, paint the outer surface of the tub
with green acrylic paint. Let dry completely. If
required, give it multiple coats till the tub is
completely covered. Be sure to paint the lid too.
• Now, thread the blue satin ribbon through both
the holes as shown in the picture.
• Line two washi tapes around the cylinder leaving
a half inch gap between them. Using a brush &
black acrylic paint, paint within the gap over the
green paint. Let dry.
• The final step is to cut out a belt buckle shaped
rectangle from the gold glitter paper and stick
onto the hat. You are finished! Your hat is ready,
and you can now decorate your table, mantle or
any corner of your house for St. Patrick’s Day!

Paper Shamrock Wreath Materials

•Scrap Paper. Double-sided looks best. Or you

can glue two pieces together to make double
sided paper. You will need:
• 7- 30.5×5″ strips of paper
• 7- 25.5×5″ strips of paper
• 7- 20.5×5″ strips of paper
•Ribbon for Hanging
•Extra scraps of paper for center decoration and
back pieces
•Hot Glue

Procedure
• Stack one of each size of paper together and glue
them together on one end.
• Loop the shortest piece over and glue the edge
down.
• Repeat with the other two pieces until you have a
teardrop shape.
• Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have made six tear
drops. Group in twos and glue the ends together
to form a heart shape.
• To make the stem, you will be making two fold
marks on each of the three strips you have left.
• For the 12″ strip, make a fold mark 5 inches from
the left edge and 5 inches from the right edge, so
that there are 2 inches between the two fold lines
and the section between the folds is centered.
• For the 30″ strip, make one fold mark 4.25″
from the left edge and 20.8″ from the right
edge, so that there are 3 cm between the two
fold lines and the section between the folds is
centered.
• For the 25″ strip, make one fold mark 9″ from
the left edge and 9″ from the right edge, so
that there is 2,5 cm between the fold lines and
the section between them is centered.
• Line up the ends and glue them all together.
• Now assemble your shamrock.
• Glue on a ribbon loop so you can hang the
wreath.

Layered Felt Rainbow Magnet

Materials Procedure
• First, draw or print the rainbow pattern . Start by

pattern to cut out the orange section.
• Repeat this process for each layer and color. Then

• Take a walk around the school, visit other classes and tell
them about St Patrick’s Day.
• Before you can separate ss in groups and have them
work on some activities related to the celebration. Why

Procedure

• For this activity, the teacher can have

students work in pairs or groups so
they can exchange ideas.
• The teacher could start by asking
students to think of what do they know
about St Patrick’s. What are the
symbols associated to it, and how they
could inform people on St Patrick’s day
by making a poster.

the school
