Now that we’ve finished introducing ourselves we will continue to our discussion
which is safety in times of typhoon.

Here is an overview of the things that we are going to discuss to you today and
make sure to take notes of the following.

1st What is a typhoon?

A typhoon is a tropical cyclone in the western Pacific Ocean or northern Indian

Ocean, having sustained winds of at least 64 knots. Typhoons also form in waters
with surface temperatures about 27°C intensifying as temperature rise.

Now that we know what a typhoon is we must also know how to prevent it.
Here are safety tips on what to do during a typhoon.

1st do not panic and remain calm because panicking will do no good nor will save
you from the typhoon. 2nd pack foods that don’t need cooking so that if you get
hungry you won’t have any problem cooking or problems regarding your hunger.

3rd Keep flashlights, candles and battery powered radios within reach so that in
case of a sudden black out, we have a source of light and communication.

4th Examine your houses and repair unstable parts as much as possible so that in
case of a flood we can prevent leakages that might happen.
5th Bring clothes, first aid kit, candles/flashlight, battery operated radios, food, etc.
during evacuation so that you are ready to any kinds of problems that you might
encounter during evacuation and make sure that you have turned off the main
power switch before leaving and put important appliances and belongings on a
high ground.

6th Stay inside the house and keep updates with the latest weather forecast
because if the typhoon is too strong, don’t go outside so that you are safe and
you are updated on what is happening with the weather.
7th Do not wade through flood waters to avoid electrocution and water borne
diseases.

8th Do not use gas or electrical appliances that were submerged during flood
because they might not work properly and can cause damage.

9th When going to the evacuation center avoid roads leading to the river and areas
prone to land slide to make sure you are safe.

Here are also safety tips on what to do after a typhoon.

1st Be sure that the house/building is safe and stable before you enter

2nd Watch out for the live wires or outlet immersed in water and report
damaged electrical cables and fallen electric posts to authorities.

Make sure that you follow these tips during and after typhoons in order to make
your lives safe and happy because typhoons are a natural disaster that can
destroy buildings and claim the lives of our fellow citizens. That is why
understanding how we can be prepared for the Typhoon will help us become
safe. Let’s educate ourselves to avoid any accidents that may lead to serious
injuries or even death. To make sure that you have knowledge on about or
presentation, we are going to ask a few questions regarding our topic.

1. What is a typhoon?
2. Give one example on what to do during a typhoon
3. Give one example on what to do after a typhoon

Thank you for those who answered our questions. Now do you have any
questions or clarifications regarding our Seminar? If none then that is all
about our topic thank you for listening that is all thank you.
