2 Network configuration
This section describes the configuration procedure of the IB-Lite. Determining the
desired mode of connection and network settings is the first step to successfully setup
your controller.
The related settings are:
 IP address
 Network mask
 Gateway IP address
 DNS IP address

2.1 Automatic IP configuration

Automatic configuration is typically used in public networks. Private networks may have
firewalls which prevent automatic configuration (roaming DHCP).
This mode is activated if the setpoint IP Addr Mode is switched to AUTOMATIC. All of
the network settings listed above are obtained automatically from a DHCP server.

CAUTION!
Do not adjust the related setpoints manually while IP Addr Mode is in automatic mode.
This mode creates an AirGate connection, which gives the following functionality:
 Websupervisor (websupervisor.comap.cz)
 Email support (SMTP)
 Lite Edit & InteliMonitor connectivity
 For AirGate setup information go to section: AirGate connection using ComAp
PC tools

NOTE:
Automatic configuration mode does not allow HTTP browser connectivity or direct IP
access.

2.2 Fixed IP configuration

Fixed IP configuration is used on private network connections which contain firewalls
and authentication to log onto the network.
This mode is activated if the setpoint IP Addr Mode is switched to FIXED. All of the
network settings listed above must be adjusted manually through the respective
setpoints (Lite Edit or directly through controller screen) or through the service web
pages. See the setup section of this document.

This mode gives us the following functionality:

 Websupervisor (websupervisor.comap.cz)
 Email support (SMTP)
 Lite Edit & InteliMonitor connectivity
 HTTP browser connectivity through direct IP access

3.2.2 SMTP Configuration

The IB-Lite SMTP protocol communicates through port 25 and requires roaming SMTP
(email). This port is not typically open on email servers and must be verified before
selecting an email service.
An example of a verified public server which meets SMTP requirements for the IB-Lite is
Ecenica (http://ecenica.com/). This server will be used in the following example,

Picture 3 Ecenica Server Settings.

1) Input server configuration data in the Comms Settings menu (shown

below). Key parameters are SMTP User Name (email address or user
name), SMTP Password, SMTP Server IP (given by mail server), and
Contr. MailBox (“sent from” email address)

3.2.3 Email to Text Message

It is possible to configure email settings to simulate a text message using a standard
wireless phone. Most cellphone carriers have domains registered to simulate an email
address. i.e. to send a text message to Verizon customer 555-666-7777, sending a
message to the email address 555666777@vtext.com will forward simple text emails to
the cellphone as a text message

3.3 Configure IB-Lite Using Service Web Pages

If the controller and/or the IB-Lite have a lower version of firmware than version 1.6. the
user will not have access to a Comms settings menu. In this situation, there is no
Automatic IP and Airgate functionality, and all IB-Lite settings must be adjusted through
the IB-Lite service pages. It is recommended to upgrade to a version greater than 2.0.

Follow this procedure:

1) Connect the IB-Lite to the Ethernet (LAN) network. If the current (default) IP
address does not match local network parameters (i.e. because of different
network segment or the IP address is occupied), connect the module directly to
your PC using a cross-wired cable. Some LAN adapters recognize direct point-
to-point connection automatically and then a normal straight UTP cable can be
used for direct connection as well.
2) Temporarily change the IP address, gateway IP, and subnet mask of your PC
Ethernet connection to match the setpoints in the IB-Lite
a) Control Panel – Network and Internet Connections – Network Connections –
Right Click on “Local Area Connection” and go to properties – Select “Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP IV4)” and select properties
b) Use following setting: IP gateway must be identical to IP gateway on IB-Lite,
IP address must be from the same subnet range as the module IP address
currently is (e.g. 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.253 for the module default IP
address) and subnet mask identical as the IB-Lite uses (e.g. 255.255.255.0
for the default module mask). After the IB-Lite setup is finished, restore your
PC setting back to original values to reconnect to LAN.
c) Example of a PC setup to connect to an IB-Lite with the following settings:
1. IB-Lite IP Gateway: 192.168.1.1
2. IB-Lite IP Address: 192.168.1.254
3. IB-Lite Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

3) Start a web browser and put the address:

http://<ib_lite_ip_address>/sp_index.htm into the address line.
a. i.e. for IB-Lite IP 192.168.1.254 (default IP) browser address would be
http://192.168.1.254/sp_index.htm
4) Enter password. The service pages homepage will then appear. Factory default
password is "comap".
5) Click the link to the configuration page.

6) Adjust the IP address, network mask, and gateway IP address. The module
works in fixed IP address mode, ( DHCP is not supported in this situation).
7) Modify the port number that is used for ComAp/TCP protocol (LiteEdit,
InteliMonitor), if needed.

15
FAQ – InteliLite – IB-Lite Communication Module

NOTE:
Port number can be specified in LiteEdit or InteliMonitor using a colon, e.g.
192.168.1.200:999. If the port number is not specified there, the default port 23 is used.

8) Adjust e-mail related setpoints (refer to Section 3.1 for definitions). Consult
settings with your e-mail provider. Tick the box “access verified” and enter SMTP
username and password below if your SMTP server require authentication. Most
SMTP servers requires the e-mails to be sent from an existing e-mail address. In
such a cases put the "IB-Lite sent from” e-mail address into the box IB-Lite
Mailbox setpoint. Adjust the Time Zone according to the gen-set location in order
to receive e-mail with correct sending time/date.
9) When you have completed the configuration, click on the “Save” button to confirm
all changes and write the setpoints to the IB-Lite.

NOTE:
Factory default IP address is 192.168.1.254 and password is comap.

3.4 Restore default settings

Restore default settings only works for IB-Lite modules with firmware versions 1.5 and
below. For firmware versions 1.6 and above, all IB-lite configuration is controlled by the
IL / ID controller.
Close the "Restore factory default" jumper (see the image in the Installation section)
before powering the controller, to restore default settings.

 If the controller firmware supports set points for IB-Lite adjustment, then the
settings are always taken from these set points and the "restore default settings"
jumper resets only the password for service web pages to "comap".

 If the controller firmware does not support set points for IB-Lite adjustment, then
the jumper resets the IB-Lite IP address to 192.168.1.254, network mask to
255.255.255.0, gateway IP address to 192.168.1.1 and the password to "comap".

CAUTION!
If you are upgrading from version 1.0, you have to program firmware IB-Lite-1.0.1.BIN
first, then wait for restart of the module and then you can upgrade to the latest firmware.

NOTE:
Do not forget to remove the jumper after new adjustment is finished.

NOTE:
The password mentioned here is used for the service pages only. The access to the
controller web pages is secured by the controller access code.

http://<ib_lite_ip_address>/sp_index.htm into the browsers address line.
NOTE:
Controller firmware version 2.0 or higher is required for controller control of IB-Lite IP
settings. Failure to update the controller first may cause loss of communications.

NOTE:
Before starting this procedure, note the IP-Address of the IB-Lite. For controller
firmware versions 2.0 and later, this can be found in LiteEdit under the Comms Settings
menu. For firmware version older than 2.0, this can be found in the service web pages.

2) Enter password. The service pages homepage will appear then. Factory default
password is "comap".
3) Click the link “IB-Lite Firmware Up loader” at the service homepage
(http://<ib_lite_ip_address>/sp_index.htm). Firmware upload page will appear.
4) Press the button "Browse" and select the appropriate firmware file.

3.6 Other Related Controller Adjustment

Adjust the controller setpoints listed below to the explicit values:
COM1 Mode DIRECT
COM2 Mode MODBUS
ModbusComSpeed 57600

4 Remote Connection types

4.1 Direct connection using ComAp PC tools
A direct connection is used by LiteEdit or InteliMonitor for communication through an IB-
Lite setup with static (fixed) IP. MODBUS and direct connections can be used at the
same time. Only two remote clients can be connected at the same time.

This connection type is active if the setpoint AirGate IP is left empty and IB-Lite DHCP
is Disabled. To connect your PC tool to the controller use the INTERNET connection
type and enter the IB-Lite IP address into the genset address box in the ComAp PC
tool. If you do not use the default port 23, then you also have to specify the port number
using a colon (i.e. 192.168.1.254:24).

19
FAQ – InteliLite – IB-Lite Communication Module

4.2 AirGate connection using ComAp PC tools

LiteEdit or Intelimonitor AirGate connections are ideal for public access networks or
cellular Internet connections. MODBUS and web connections can be used at the same
time. Only two remote clients can be connected at the same time.

This connection type is active if the setpoint AirGate IP is configured with an AirGate
server address. It can be entered in text form or numeric form as "airgate.comap.cz" or
“80.95.108.26”).

Once the controller is “online” and the AirGate server address is properly configured,
the controller automatically connects to the server and generates an AirGate ID This
can be found on the controller screen or in LiteEdit under “Values” - “Controller I.O” –
“Airgate ID:”.

To connect your PC tool to the controller use the AIRGATE connection, put the same
AirGate address as in the controller into the AIRGATE ADDRESS field and use the
AirGate ID displayed on the controller.

NOTE:
The IB-Lite must be able to send data to the AirGate server at UDP port 6127 and TCP
port 23. The TCP port can be changed in the module setup.

20
FAQ – InteliLite – IB-Lite Communication Module

4.3 MODBUS over TCP

Modbus is designed for easy integration of the controller into a building management
system. There is not any specific adjustment in the IB-Lite module related to this
connection. It can be used simultaneously with web connection and direct
ethernet/AirGate connection.

NOTE:
Comm (2) setting must be change to MODBUS along with ModbusComSpeed to the
desired communication speed, this is typically 57600.

NOTE:
Controller access code must be written into the controller prior to reading any
registers. Use function 16, register address 24534 and number of registers 8. The
access code is a null-terminated string of max. (15 characters) Send the 1st character in
the LSB of the 1st register, 2nd character in the MSB of the 1st register, 3rd character in
the LSB of the 2nd register etc... The fixed IP address mode is preferred for this
connection type. This requirement can be disabled when firmware 1.8 is installed in IB-
Lite through the IB-Lite Service Pages.

FAQ – InteliLite – IB-Lite Communication Module

4.4 SNMP Protocol

The IB-Lite can act as a SNMP agent and provide controller data for the remote SNMP
Manager as well as send TRAP messages when a new alarm appears in the controller
alarm list. The SNMP Agent function is to be enabled/disabled in the configuration web
page. The SNMP protocol is enabled alternatively with the MODBUS protocol, both
protocols cannot be active simultaneously. For configuring which protocol is used,
refer to section Configure IB-Lite Using Service Web Pages.

Picture 10

The MIB table of each controller is to be created from the controller configuration using
LiteEdit software.

Picture 24. LiteEdit SNMP MIB table.

22
FAQ – InteliLite – IB-Lite Communication Module

CAUTION!
As the OID tree contains serial number of the controller it is absolutely necessary that
the MIB table is created from the configuration downloaded from the respective
controller. If the MIB is created from default archive or archive downloaded from other
controller the SNMP agent will not report error.

If there is a new alarm in controller the IB-Lite sends a TRAP to the predefined IP
address. The device reading the trap see message as "New alarm appeared” along with
bindings which contain the alarmlist of the controller as well as the controller name and
serial number.

SNMP read/write community strings are set by default to "public"/"private" and can be
changed configuration web page.

The MIB table is fixed, cannot be configured.

4.5 Web connection

The web server is designed for basic monitoring and adjustment of the controller using
a web browser. Enter the controller IP address into the browser to display the main
controller web page (http://192.168.1.254). If connecting from the internet, enter the
fixed IP address of the gateway which will port forward to the IB-Lite. Enter the
controller access code to access the web pages.

NOTE:
The web server is optimized for Internet Explorer 6 or higher and screen resolution
1024x768 pixels.

CAUTION!
Do not use the browser navigation buttons "Back", "Forward" or "Reload". Use the links
and the reload button located in the toolbar.

NOTE:
Only one remote client can be connected to the web server at a time. If the web browser
is closed without disconnecting through the IB-Lite web page, the connection will be
blocked for 5 minutes.

NOTE:
This connection type only functions under fixed IP address mode.
