Social Determinants of Health Challenges

Read the Article "challenges in the Phil Healthcare system" "Which of the identified social
determinants of health challenges, needs priority attention, why? Do you agree with the
coping mechanism used to address the issue?
One of the social determinants of health challenges that needs priority attention is
the accessible healthcare. Many Filipinos do not have access in the basic care especially
those people who are living in rural areas. Lack of healthcare facilities and shortage of
medical resources like Doctors and nurses. According to DOH, Diabetes is the 6th leading
cause of death among Filipinos and the population is affected by a high prevalence of
obesity along with heart disease.
The coping mechanism that addresses this issues are well implemented and
established. Unfortunately in this time we are facing a crisis where we need more access
in terms of the healthcare. Government must have a strong force in which they can
provide the needs and wants to those people who will be affected on it. Having a concrete
plan and a proper financing system we can survive this crisis.
