Assignment#4 Questions

4.1. Give an example of a product or service you have encountered that was
poorly designed. Read about more bad designs at the bad designs website
http://www.baddesigns.com. Make a list of the factors that make a design
unworkable.

Fortunately, I haven't yet come across anything that is poorly designed.

According to the website that was referenced in the inquiry, I believe that a
design or product is impractical if it doesn't match the product's description and
if the product itself makes no sense.

4.2. Access the Environmental Protection Agency at http://www.epa.gov/ to

read about the U.S. government’s commitment to environmental product
design. Compare the U.S. approach to that of other countries.

Checking the supplied website reveals that the COVID-19 is primarily

discussed there. But to my knowledge, the United States is significantly more
advanced in terms of environmentally friendly product design than the
Philippines. For the sake of the environment, most of their businesses use less
plastic garbage.

4.3. Search the Internet for two or more companies that publish sustainability
reports. What are the main components of each company’s green initiatives?
How do their approaches differ?

iTune, Inc. Because Apple Inc. was our company before on the STRABA
course, I am quite familiar with their products. Additionally, I am aware of one
Apple user. Green Apple Inc. is one of Apple Inc.'s business opportunities. I
believe Apple Inc. is making slow progress toward reducing plastic waste in its
products. In order to avoid plastic waste, a charger was eliminated from the
most recent iPhone series.

Similar to Apple Inc., the Samsung Group is now using less plastic garbage. It
is evident in the most recent product packaging from the mentioned company.
One of my friends recently purchased the S21+, and he claimed it contained
less information on the box than Samsung's earlier models.

4.4. Link to the International Standards Organization at http://www.iso.org and

explore ISO 14000. What do these standards entail? How were they
developed? How does a company attain ISO 14001 certification? Why would it
want to?

I still need to search at the offered site about the ISO 14000 after looking at the
page that is similar to the other one and seeing that it contains a lot of
information on COVID-19. According to the aforementioned Standard, ISO
14000 is comparable to a family standard for the environment. By confirming
that the organization complied with the standard, which aids in controlling
environmental issues, minimizing effects, and guaranteeing legal compliance,
businesses can obtain an ISO 14001 certificate.
