The article "Students 'Listening Difficulties in English

as a Foreign Language Learning at Secondary School


in Indonesian Context" is written by Syifa Nadhira and
Silih Warni for the purpose of analyzing students'
difficulties when learning listening. 
A study in Saudi Arabia showed that students
encountered serious problems with listening skills.
According to the results of the interview in Indonesian
context, the difficulties in listening to students' foreign
languages are because there are many unfamiliar
words. Next is due to the speed of speaking so fast of
the native speakers. Accent is also a problem in
listening to students. Another difficulty that students
face is the unclear pronunciation. Besides, students
also mentioned recording quality as an obstacle in
developing listening skills. As for the factors of those
difficulties , it involved the students' background
knowledge, lack of practices and environment noise.
Developing listening skills is necessary. Therefore,
there should be methods to overcome the difficulties in
listening to students.
