Act 1

Narrator: “Once upon a time, in ancient times there lived a widow named Mbok srini in a small
village. He works as a small farmer. He wants a child to be able to help and accompany him to work.”

Mbok srini : “Finally, my work in the fields today is finished. If I had a child, I definitely wouldn’t be
this tired.”

Narrator: “One day, he was visited by a giant.”

Buto ijo: “O little farmer, if you want a child, I will give you a child. However, with the condition that
when the child is six years old, it must be handed over to me to eat.”

Mbok srini : “Okay sir, I agree with the terms of the lord.”

Buto ijo: “These are cucumber seeds, take care of these seeds in your field.”

Narrator: “After two weeks, among the cucumbers he planted, there was one that was the biggest
and glistening like gold.”

Mbok srini: “Wow, this fruit is huge! All right, I’ll split the fruit carefully.”

Narrator: “Apparently, the contents of the fruit is a beautiful baby.”

Baby: “Oeek…….”

Mbok srini : “Wow, you are very beautiful, daughter. From now on, mother will call you Timun Emas
because you come from a golden cucumber.”

Act 2

Narrator: “More and more days, Timun Emas has grown into a beautiful girl who is diligent in helping
her mother.”

Timun Emas : “Mother, I will go look for firewood first, OK?”

Mbok sgini : “Yes, be careful, daughter. Don’t come home too late, or you’ll get lost.”

Narrator: “A few moments later, a giant came to claim Mbok srini’s promise.”
Buto ijo: “O little farmer, I came here to collect on your promise of 6 years. Quickly hand over the
child! Now I really want to eat a boy.”

Narrator: “Because Mbok srini was very scared, she stretched out her promise.”

Mbok srini : “Well sir, I have a suggestion. Would you come here two years later? I’m sure, when it
gets older, this child will definitely be more delicious to eat.”

Buto ijo: “Mmm…. , your advice is also good. Alright, I will come here two years later to collect your
promise.”

Act 3

Narrator: “Day after day, Mbok srini loves Timun Emas more and more, but every time she
remembers her promise, her heart becomes anxious and sad.”

Timun Emas : “Mother, it’s already late at night, why haven’t you slept yet? And, why do you look
sad, do you have a problem?”

Mbok srini : “No, my daughter. Mother has no problem. Let’s sleep, mother will tell you a fairy tale.”

Timun Emas : “Hooray, thank you mother.”

Act 4

Narrator : “One night, Mbok srini had a dream, so that her child would be safe she had to meet a
hermit on Gundul Mountain. In the morning he went straight there.”

Mbok srini : “Timun Mas, mother will go to Gundul Mountain for a few days. If you are hungry,
mother has prepared rice and fried salted fish in the kitchen. Don’t go anywhere, you’ll get lost.”

Timun Emas : “Mother, may I come with you?”

Mbok Srini : “Sorry, my daughter. You can’t follow mother. You have to look after our house.”

Timun Emas : “Okay mother.”

Act 5

Narrator: “After Mbok Srini arrived at Gunung Kidul, she helped someone who had almost fallen into
a creek. It turns out that the person is an ascetic.”

Hermit: “Thank you for helping me, it turns out you are a generous person. Here I give you these 4
small packets, each of which contains cucumber seeds, needles, salt and shrimp paste to save your
child from the giant.”

Narrator: “However, when Mbok srini wanted to thank her, the hermit just disappeared.”
Act 6

Narrator: “Mbok srini went home. When he got home, he told Timun Emas everything that had
happened.”

Timun Emas : “Mother, I am very afraid of being eaten by the Giant, and also I am afraid of parting
with mother.”

Mbok srini : “Oh, my daughter. Mother loves you very much and is afraid of losing you. Here, this
package mother gave you. Use this when you face the Giant. Before that, pray to the Creator to be
given protection from Him.”

Timun Emas : “Okay mother, I will try to follow your advice.”

Act 7

Narrator: “In the morning the giant came again to collect the promise.”

Buto ijo : “O little farmer, I came here to collect your promise! Quickly hand over the child, I really
want to eat it! Ha ha ha……”

Mbok srini : “My daughter, quickly run through the back door of our house!”

Timun Emas : “Okay mother.”

Narrator: “The giant was chasing him. Timun Emas remembered the package, so she spread the
cucumber seeds. It’s magical, the forest becomes a field of cucumbers full of fruit. The giants ate it
but the cucumbers actually added to the giant’s strength. Then the golden cucumber sprinkled
needles, in an instant bamboo trees grew very tall and sharp. With bloodied feet, the giant kept
chasing. Timun Emas opened the salt parcel and sprinkled it on him. Instantly the forest became a
vast ocean. With his pain the giant can pass. The last time Timun Emas finally sprinkled the shrimp
paste, immediately a sea of boiling mud was formed, finally the giant died.”

Timun Emas : “Thank you God, you have protected your servant”

Narrator : “Finally Timun Emas and Mbok Srini lived happily and peacefully.”
