EGYPT

EGYPT is divided in two periods. The first one was considered just “Ancient Egypt” and
now as a “nation” that was founded in 1953.
I think that the most interesting part of it is the ancient culture. Because it gives us a lot
of information. For example:
A lot of imformation is given to everybody

 The pyramids were built by free men and not by slaves.

 Tutankamon was considered the pharaoh for a short time and he didn´t do
something important. Just the tomb wasn´t touched for any looter, that´s the
reason why it has a lot of importance.
 There are 3 seasons: flooding, sowing and harvesting are contained in the
calendar
 Ladies had almost the same rights as a man.

FOOD
It has been involved with a lot of variety of it around the country, because the culture
stir was implemented in this. As it´s obvious, Egypt is around of a dessert, that´s the
reason why the cymbals are fresh. For the location, since a lot time ago, was combined
with African and Mediterranean culture.
Ful Medames: It´s made with broad beans, garlic and another ingredient, regular as a
breakfast.
Koshari: It´s a mixture of different kind of ingredient, it´s prepared for vegetarian
people, it has 2 different kind of pasta, rice and caramel.
Fatteh: It´s chicken and regularly is accompanied with yogurt.

DRINK
It´s so basic to talk about this, since “Antic Egypt” beer was considered the national
drink. For this, was distributed and traded for a lot of nations. It was inside an anaphora
and loaded to a ship. The travel took a lot of time around the Nilo.
They were famous for it, for the wine they produced. Around of a lot of civilizations the
information of the best wine in the zone made the Egyptians popular. It was made
from the grape vine.
This was founded in their drawings, their representations that they give to us for tell
their story.

LANGUAGE
Now at days, is used the modern Arab to talk and write as a normal citizen. But in the
“Ancient Egypt” was used the hieroglyphs to express their story and legends in the
pyramids´ wall. It was finished the hieroglyphs IV century.
It´s considered one of the more ancient languages in the hole world. It was called the
“Gods´ language”. The function of it was to show the pharaoh achievements and leave
their story for a lot of years.
Everything was represented by animals as letters, there were 24, and the other were
complete words.
Every single parchment, wall or whatever thing with something write, had been with
the Horus eye, that was a kind of god that watched the citizens to had it in control.

LANDMARK
For going to Egypt, the best places to visit or makes the best reference are:

 Pyramids of Giza: There were built for the pharaohs for more than 2700 years.
 Valley of the kings: It´s a necropolis that is destined to be a kind of cemetery for
the Pharaohs and their families.
 The Sphinx: It represent a destruction demon, with a woman´s face, lion´s body
and bird’s wings.
Everything of it its near one to the other, because it was designed as close city for the
Pharaoh.

CURRENCY
It is the Egyptian pound and it is divided in banknotes of 100,50,20,10 and 5 pounds.
There are coins for 10, 5, 1 and ½.
It´s almost the same 1 Egyptian Pound and 1 Mexican Peso. The difference is minimal.

TRADITIONS
In the past, there were something that they used a lot for represent and commemorate
their Pharaohs and what they did, the shadow theater. It was at sunset or at night
using the sunlight or fire in dark places. It was told all the stories about the life and the
best feats for important warriors, royal family or the Pharaoh.
All art was represented and guided by the religion and had thing about the dead or the
wine. They worshiped the Sun and made rituals to their god to ensure the safety of the
soul.

DANCE
Dancing was a kind of entertainment in the Pharaoh´s palace outside de city. It was
introducing fights, gymnastics exercises and dancing. The tradition was that women
dancer worn transparent dresses. This could be without music or with music and
singings.

CLOTHING
For men they have the costume to use a kind of skirt called falledin that
was made to have covered just the hip to the knees.
The basic color was withe. Then was came the red one and brown and
something to covered the collar and sleeves.
For common people they used to use a skirt with a leather belt.
