Yasmina: Good afternoon, and welcome back to BBC News, it’s Monday
the 13th of February 2023, and here we are with this breaking news that
might shock you. These images can affect or trigger you emotionally.
Now I’m letting you with my colleague Zimu Kián, who’s in Turkey and
will explain to us what’s happening.

Kián: Good afternoon.

Yesterday, a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake, hit Turkey and Syria, the
aftershocks reaching as far as, Cyprus, Greece, Jordan, Iraq, and others…
It reached the Turkish city of Gaziantep at 4:17 Am, and the earthquake
had a depth of 17.9 Km.
Thank you very much.

Yasmina: The Turkish government has declared a Level 4 state of

emergency, which includes a call for international assistance and
mobilising all national forces.

Kián: We will soon be back after a short stop for some publicity.

Kián: Welcome back. After this short stop, we're about to talk and inform
you about one of the most recent and interesting cases in Alcatraz.
Yasmina: Yesterday while there was an earthquake in Turkey the
criminals Frank Morris, John Anglin, and his brother Clarence Anglin
escaped the Californian prison Alcatraz at 8 Pm, which has been known
for having “high” security and for being impossible to break in and out.
These men are the first men to escape from Alcatraz in history, the
authority found the boats and vests they used. Now, Kián will tell us how
these men escaped Alcatraz.

Kián: The Anglin brothers and Morris made masks of their own faces
with paper and put them on the bed, they used pillows to fake their own
sleeping bodies. They managed to exit through a utility corridor, and
climbed up the back wall of the cell block, using plumbing pipes as steps,
to the cell block roof. They escaped with the same boats and vests that
were found at the beach the next morning. At 2 Am, more specifically.
