Lets face it: working out can be boring. Even the most motivated of us sometimes cant help but feel like were working hard, but getting nowhere. Its the mouse-wheel syndrome and it can be a deal-breaker for some trying to live a more active lifestyle. But, lucky for us, the answer to this dilemma is simple: change it up. Varying your workout routine will not only make you more willing to exercise on a regular basis, but it will make the time go faster. One of the best ways to do this is to incorporate learning a new skill into your workout.

Cue the hoop dancing. Thats right. Dancing. With hoops. Hoop dancing is the art of using your body to spin hula hoops acrobatically. It can be done with or without music. It can be done with more than one hoop. It can also be done with fire. (But well save that for the more daring Carbonites out there). This workout idea is both fun and engaging and the more you practice it, the better you (and your abs) become! Kaylee teaches us how to do a move she calls isolation of the hoop. The end result looks like the hoop is fixed in midair and you are working to spin it in different directions. This move works your shoulders and back, especially. Stance: Stand with your knees slightly bent and shoulder-length apart. Hold the hoop so you are looking straight through the middle of it.

12 August/September 2011

Step 1: Grip the hoop in front of you, at the 6 oclock position, with your knuckles facing out. Step 2: Move the hoop to the 9oclock position, keeping the circle of the hoop in the same position. Step 3: Move your arm, in a circle, back to the 6 oclock position, briefly letting the hoop go at 12 oclock in order to catch it again, knuckles out, back at 6. Give the hoop a good push on your way back down to 6 to get momentum and maintain the hoops spin. Step 4: Do it faster. Step 5: Look awesome in a tank top.

Fashion Through the Ages: New 90s Grunge

The 90s is not a time t h a t m a n y Fashionista's look back on and remember fondly. People wore scrunchies, overalls and smiley face print and thought they looked hot. However, one good thing was produced by the 90s fashion cycle: the grunge look. Notoriously known for looking dirty and haphazardly put together, some looks came out of the grunge era that are actually quite cute. The best thing the grunge era did for style was combining hard core with girly. Grunge girls dared to pair their flower print dresses with kick -ass combat boots creating a look that said, "I may seem sweet but you better not mess with me." This look is still wearable today as long as the outfit is clean cut and ironed. It's best to avoid the traditional just rolled out of bed after a night at rave look that was far too popular in the era. Try the look yourself by throwing on a plaid dress. Belt with a sash and pair with ankle length lace up boots for a look that would easily win the heart of Jordan Catalano.

Whats in Your Carry On?

After recently travelling abroad, there were a few things I was grateful I packed and a few things that I really wished I had packed. In the hopes that you can have smooth travels, here are a few tips for what to pack: 1) A Travel Pillow: Falling asleep while your head bobs from side to side is highly unlikely; travel pillows solve this problem. They are even available in an inflatable version, which are perfect for airplane trips invest in one, youre neck will thank you! 2) A Watch with an Alarm: You never know where youll end up while travelling. If youre staying in a hotel, there will most likely be an alarm clock. However, if you are

staying in a hostel, this luxury is unlikely. To make sure you wake up in time to see all the sights, pack a watch that can double as your alarm clock. 3) Passport cover: When travelling abroad, one of the most important things to pack is your passport. Fashionably display this travel essential with a chic passport cover. Passport covers come in a variety of styles and are a simple way to show off your fashion sense. 4) Sunscreen: Europeans dont view sunscreen and skin protection the same way Americans do. If you are travelling in the summer or to a sunny region, protect your skin and your wallet by packing sunscreen!
