TREE PLANTATION WEEK
The students of the Electrical Engineering
Department at UAJK observed “Tree
Plantation Week from March 05411, 2023,
under the leadership of the Dean of the
Faculty of Engineering and Technology,
Prof. Dr. Saadat Hanif Dar. The event
commenced with a _ tree-planting
ceremony, which saw _ enthusiastic
participation from students who planted
saplings within oo.
Dr. Khalid Khawaja, the
Head of Department, empha-
sized the significance of tree
planting in promoting
environmental _ sustainability
and cultivatingasense ofrespap- AL AL
sibility towards nature.
Dr. Khawaja also highlighted the benefits
of trees, such as reducing air pollution,
controlling soll erosion, and supporting
biodiversity. tis encouraged that everyone
takes part in activities that contribute to a
greener environment. The campaign

Dr. Fahad Hameed's Ph.D, Research
on Geophysics

of Dr. Fahad Hameed's recent
academic accomplishment.
Dr. Hameed, the son of Abdul
Hameed Khan from Kakrool, Pallandri,
district Sudhnuti = AU&K, has
successfully earned his Ph.D. degree
from the Institute of Geology at the
University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir,
Muzaffarabad.
Under the supervision of Prof.
Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Rustam Khan,
Dr. Hameed conducted integrated
geophysical surveys in Hazara KPK,
part of AJK, and Northern Pakistan.
His research focused on analyzing
gravity, magnetic, and earthquake data
to compute two tectonic models of the
study area, identifying thin-skinned and
thick-skinned faults, active faults, and
seismogenic layers in the subsurface.

TO RETIRING OFFICERS
We are pleased to share with you the highlights
of the recent farewell function organized by the
Administrative Staff Association of UAJK to bid
adieu to our retiring officers and employees. The
ceremony was graced by the presence of our
esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad

EXCELLENCE: NIM LAHORE
During the briefing, the NIM delegation was provided
with a detailed overview of UAJK's administrative
structure, history, and services offered as a premier
institute of higher learning in the state. Prof. Dr. Ansar
Yasin, shared with the delegation that UAJK was the
first public sector educational institution to have its
various campuses attain the status of autonomous
universities. Overall, the visit proved to be a great
learning opportunity for the trainee officers of the NIM
delegation, and it was concluded with Prof. Dr. Wajid
Aziz Lone presenting a memorial shield to Muhammad
Farooq Khan as a token of appreciation for their
interest in UAJK and the knowledge they gained
during the visit

T he National Institute of Management
(NIM) Peshawar delegation consisting
of over twenty officers visited the
University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
(UAIK) as part of its 36th Mid-Career
Management Course.
The delegation was briefed about UAJK's
educational programs, administrative
structure, and research initiatives in
various fields by UAJK's Director of
Planning and Development, Prof. Dr.
Kh. Ansar Yasin, Director of Youth
Engagement, Prof. Dr. Wajid Aziz Lone,
and Public Relations Officer, Mubashar
Naqvi. The visit was an opportunity for
the trainee officers to learn about UAJK's
services and ongoing _ educational
programs, and they also paid a visit to the
monument of the martyrs in the City
campus to offer Fatiha for the martyred
faculty and students of UAJK in
Earthquake 2005.
The NIM delegation's visit to UAJK was an
excellent opportunity for them to gain
knowledge about the institute's academic
and research —initiatives =~ and
administrative structure. The visit not
only provided them with valuable insights
into UAJK's services but also enabled
them to pay homage to the martyrs who
lost their lives in the devastating

Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special
Initiatives held an event on March 21, 2023,
titled "Empowering Youth for a Prosperous
Pakistan." UAJK was represented by its Focal
Person, Prof. Dr. Wajid Aziz Lone, Director of
Youth Engagements, Dr. Nazneen Habib, and
students from various departments. UAJK
students, including Usama Pirzada, Saad Bin
Mushtaq, Muhadsa Naqvi, Eman Tariq, and
Kiran Ghafoor, participated in the Young Peace
and Development Corps oath-taking ceremony
and met with Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of
Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives,
and Ms. Shiza Fatima, Special Assistant to the
