This pressure control system consists of 20 L oll tank, which is connected to the chamber Il oft the aft seal by pipe. ‘The specific features of this aft S.C.-seal are as follows: © The pressure in chamber Il of the 8.C.-seal is exactly set by the aft seal 30 L oil tank level; hence any technically relevant pressure variations will not occur. © Defined differential pressure and lubrication ofthe sealing rings at the aft seal Therefore increased operational reliability of sealing rings (31), (6) and liner (1). © By-ontrolling the level within the 30 L oil tank conclusions can be drawn about the ‘functional control of the 8.C.-seal © One pipe line only will be required for the connection between the tank and the S.C.-seal in the sterntube, ‘© Since this system operates independently of any other source of energy, a power failure will ‘ot affect the pressure conditions prevailing in the S.C.-seal.
