DEUTSCHE NORM Sheet gasket materials Technical delivery conditions for compressed fibre gasket materials Ics 21140; 71:20:10 Descriptors: Seals, gaskets, compressed fibre gasket materials, technical delivery conditions, process engineering. Technische Lisferbedingungan fir Dichtungsplatten ~ Tell 2: Dichtungswerkstotfe auf Basis von Fasern (FA) — ‘Anforderungen und Prisfung In keeping with current practice in standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a comma has been used throughout as the decimal marker. Foreword This standardhas been prepared by Technical Committee Dichtungen of the NormenausschuB Chemischer Apparatebau (Process Engineering Standards Committee) 1 Scope and field of application This standard, in conjunction with DIN 28091-1, species technical delivery conditions for compressed fibre gasket materials. 2 Normative references This standard incorporates, by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications, These normative refer fences are cited at the appropriate placesin the text and the tities of the publications are listed below. For dated refer- fences, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this standard only when incor- porated intoitby amendment or revision. For undated refer- fences, the latest edition of the publication referred to applies. ‘© No parol tis anaard may be rproauoss witout Wo Bor BoTmISSOn DIN Deutsches Init fir Normung @\, Bar Incase of doubt the German-language olga shouldbe consuled asthe authoritative ox. Determination of compression modulus at room temperature To determine the compression madulus at room tempera ture, exsy, proceed as described in subclause 9.21 of DIN 2680-2 appiying a preload of 1,0 N/mm? and sub- Jecting the gasket material to a compressive stress of 35 N/mm? 42 Determination of compression modulus at elevated temperature To determine the compression modulus at elevated tem- perature, ews, after loading for 16 hours at 200°C, pro- ceed as described in subclause 922 of DIN 28090-2, ‘subjecting, the gasket material to a comoressive stress of 150 N/mm 43. Recovery character For the determination of recovery, R, see subclause 92.2 of DIN 28090-2. 4.4 Determination of leak rate For the determination of leak rate, 2, see clause 10 of DIN 28090-2. Testing istobe catriedoutatroom temperature, bothbefore and after conditioning the specimen gasket for 48 hours at 200°C. In the test conducted prior to conditioning, the intial com- pressive stress shall be 30 N/mmé: 45 Compressive strength To determine the compressive stress, dyes, proceed as described in DIN 52918 by subjecting the specimen to a compressive stress of 50 N/mm over a period of 16 hours at 175°C. 46 Resistance to chemicals Determine the resistance to chemicals as specified in DIN 28090-3, taking into account that the test described has been designed as a type test, not an acceptance test. 5 Material 51 Composition Compressed fibre gasket materials (FA) are composite materials made from elastomer binders or amixture of elas- tomer binders which are reinforced by the inclusion of fibres, and fillers, NOTE: Usually, the materialis based on a composi- tion of 10 to 30 % binder, 5 to 50 % fibres, and 10 10 Page 3 DIN 2091-2: 1996-08 ‘The designation system set out in subclause 5.2 shall be referred to whan supplying or ordering materialsintine with this standard (specitying the percentage by mass of the ‘main fre and binder components} 5.2.
