1. (a) In how many ways can six dice appear when they are rolled?
(b) In how many ways can they show all different faces?

2. Suppose Airline A has three daily flights between Bombay to Chennai, and Airline B has two daily
flights between Bombay and Chennai.
(a) There are how many ways to fly Airline A from Bombay to Chennai, and then Airline B from Chennai
back to Bombay?
(b) There are how many ways to fly from Bombay to Chennai, and then back again?

3. Find the number m of seven-letter words that can be formed using the letters of the word “BENZENE”?

4. Three cards are chosen in succession from a deck with 52 cards. Find the number of ways this can be
done. (a) with replacement (b) without replacement.

5. There are four bus lines from city A to city B and three bus lines from city B to city C. Find the number
n of ways a person can travel by bus: (a) from A to C by way of B, (b) round-trip from A to C by way of B,
(c) round-trip from A to C by way of B, without using a bus line more than once.

6. A family has 3 boys and 2 girls (a) Find the number of ways they can sit in a row. (b) how many ways
are there if the boys and girls are to sit together?

7. Find the number of distinct permutations that can be formed from all the letters of each word: (a) THEM,
(b) UNUSUAL, (c) SOCIOLOGICAL.

8. How many signals can be made by hoisting 5 flags of different colours one above the other when any
number of them may be hoisted at a time?

9. Given 5 different green dyes, 4 different blue dyes, 3 different red dyes, how many combinations of dyes
can be chosen taking atleast 1 green and 1 blue dye?

10. How many numbers greater than a million can be formed with the digits 2, 3, 0, 3, 4, 2, and 3?
