Effect short working hours in a workplace:
Hello my name is Nur Sazreen Binti Kamil from cost early childhood education. My
matric number is 000701121906001 and I am from OUM Keningau center. In this
assignmnt, I was given a task to creating a video report of OUMH2203 English for
workplace communication assignment. The purpose in making this video is to explain
the effects of working short hours in a workplace.
Assalamualaikum and good morning to everyone, my name is Nur Sazreen binti
Kamil and I am the manager of human resources department company and here I want
to present about the effects of working short hours at a workplace.
as we know, has been written in the news about the issue of short-term work. among
them is the implementation of the amendment to the Labor Act 1955, which will see
the weekly working hours reduced from 48 to 45 hours. the industry wants to
postpone the reduction of working hours because it will affect productivity and
output. This amendment came into effect on 1 September 2022. This amendment has
given employees the opportunity to have more flexible hours where they can choose
the location, time and day of work.
anyway, I as the manager of human resources department would like to make a
presentation about the effects of short-term working and present some effects of pros
and cons about this issue. since i will be leaving overseas for a few months due to
another project, i will only make this video recording.
Advantages:
1. Human resources experts have praised the government's move to reduce working
hours to 45 hours from 48 hours a week, which will further increase productivity
especially for blue-collar workers who can also work from home. Chief Executive
Officer, Dr Gajendra Balasingham said this reduction in working hours is a win-win
situation for both parties. among the benefits is that short working hours will actually
lead to increased productivity as employees feel motivated and valued. this approach
also shows the government's concern for the country's workforce, and at the same
time, from an advantage point of view, the move allows employers to extend some
free time for employees. if employees can work in good conditions, less stress and
orderly, then the output of a company will also increase. this is called a win-win
situation
2. in addition to being able to increase the productivity of the company, the employees
also have a lot of free time that can be used for example, they can spend time with
their families more often, do their hobbies, and also do leisure activities such as
exercising for body health. workers are also ordinary human beings who need rest and
time to calm their minds. with the implementation of this short-term work, it can help
employees live a healthier life with their families
Disadvantages:
1. there is no denying that short-term work is the best thing for workers. but here there
are also disadvantages. Among the significant disadvantages is that employees will
have difficulty completing work on time. this will cause some workers to take more
time to complete the delayed work. This will certainly cause stress among employees.
therefore, it is the employees themselves who need to be smart in organizing their
schedules and also know when they will rest to avoid stress at work.
