Development
During Mattel's 2021 Virtual Analyst Day Presentation, Barney was included
to be a "new series in development" by Mattel Television.[1] On February 13,
2023, Mattel announced that it would relaunch the Barney franchise with an
animated series set to debut in 2024. Announced to be co-produced by
Mattel Television and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana the series is announced

to be executive produced by Fred Soulie and Christopher Keenan for Mattel
Television and by Colin Bohm, Doug Murphy and Pam Westman for Nelvana.
The relaunch is set to introduce audiences to the world of Barney through
music-filled adventures centered on love, community, and encouragement.[2]

Upon the initial announcement, Mattel confirmed that the relaunch will be
available for streaming, and broadcast partners were to be announced later
in 2023.[3]
 

Reception
Upon the initial announcement of the animated series, the initial first look at
the redesigned Barney drew criticism.[4][5][6][7] Notable criticisms came from
David Joyner, the original body of Barney on Barney & Friends,[8] and Dianna
De La Garza, the mother of Demi Lovato, who portrayed Angela on Barney &
Friends, with the latter disapproving the change.[9]

With the initial announcement of the relaunch, it's also set to bring forth a full
range of kids’ products including toys, books, clothing, and more[2] in 2025.[10]

Trivia
The series named is Unknown but the title will be relived in either late 2023
or Early 2024.

The series will possibly remake the songs like the I Love You Song and many

Bob West, the original voice of Barney, expressed interest in wanting to
return as the voice Barney for the relaunch.[11]
Julie Johnson, the current voice of Baby Bop, will return to voice Baby
Bop for the relaunch.
Patty Wirtz, the current voice of BJ, will return to the relaunch to voice
BJ.
It's likey that Michaela Dietz, who voices Riff will return to the relaunch.
The relaunch will might have some new kids but it could be possible.
David Bernard Wolf the former musical directors of the franchise, have
expressed interest in wanting to compose the music for the relaunch.

Directly following the initial announcement of the series, various
individuals confirmed themselves publicly to be involved with the
relaunch, including Adam Mezgec (music supervisor) and Laura Nikolic
(Supervising Music Producer).

I hope Bob West, Duncan Brennan and Tim Dever all return to voice
Barney cuz Dean Wendt has lost the barney voice and plus his version
of Barney isnt gonna be the best for both old and new audiences also I
hope they keep the original Tone of Barney and give him a deep voice
rather than making him sound or act like a joke but lets actually hope
this series is actually decent and that they can remake some of the
episodes in the live action series for nostalgia/provide life lessons for
children and actually teach them something
