“Rediscovering Language & Literature: Strengthening Communication Through Meaningful Interactions”

WRITTEN WORK #2.1

CREATIVE MASK
(15 pts.)

In a masquerade ball, guests conceal their identity with their masks which turns it into a game of "guess the
guests”. This would create a game that basically requires guests to try to guess another guest’s identity. Often, the ball
would turn into highly entertaining event, as guests would arrive in ever-increasing arrays of humorous and whimsical
disguises. Masks are important because they hide the wearer’s identity. In this way, one could freely express their opinions
and emotions without any judgement.

HANDWRITTEN LETTER
(15 pts.)

A sense of realness and closeness is created through a handwritten letter – from your fingerprints on the card, to
the ink from your pen and to the final seal of the envelope. Through every misspelled word, watermark and doodle, the
emotion and time you put into drafting the letter is expressed. Handwritten letters symbolize so much more than simple
thoughts penned to paper. They symbolize the thought and effort that went into the jumble of words that ended up in
your hands.
General Instructions:

 Make a creative full-face/half-face mask using any material that you like.
 Think of someone in school whom you would like to express your POSITIVE thoughts or feelings with (classmate,
schoolmate, subject teacher or adviser).
 Construct a hand-written letter for that person using any special paper such as a stationery. Be careful with your
language. Vulgar words are not allowed.
 The recipient should be in the same session as the sender be it Grade 11 or Grade 12. For example, if you belong
to the morning session, your letter’s recipient should also be in the morning session.
 Be ready to wear your mask and deliver the letter yourself during your English class schedule on the 4 th week of
November (Nov. 21-24). For the time, refer to the attached table.

Culmination Day on November 29.

letter.
 Students should behave well and strictly remain silent while roaming around the campus to deliver the letters.
They should be as mysterious as the mask that they are wearing. This is also to avoid disturbing other classes.
 Once the letter is dropped in the drop box of the recipient’s section, the students should directly go back to their
respective classrooms.
