Note the ac voltage range, then manual select a de votage range fequal o or higher than the ac range. This improves the ‘accuracy of the de measurement by ensuring that the ‘nut protection oreuts ae not activate, 3.2.2 Resistance measurement ‘LX Te avoid electrical shock andlor demage tothe Instrument, disconnect circult power and Gischarge all high-voltage capaciiors before ‘measuring resistance. ‘The unt of resistanes isthe ohm (@). The Mater measures resistance by sending a small curent through the cul Because this curent flows tough all possitle paths between the probes, an Incirout resistance reading represents the total resistance of all paths between the probes, “ The Netefs resistance ranges are 400.00, 4.000K0, 40.00K0, 400.040, 4 600M ae 40.0040 To measure resistance: 1. St te rotary swtcn to range, 2 Connect the black and red es leads to the COM and terminals respectively 2. Connect the tos leads tothe citcut being measured ‘and read the dspayed va, ‘Some tips for measuring resistance: * The measured valve of a resietor in @ circu is often diferent from the resists rated value, This is because the Meters test curent flows through all possible pathe between the probe tips, * Inder to ensure the best accuracy measurement of om fesistance, short the test leads before measurement and ‘memory the test orate rasisancnin mind. Thie noseecary to ‘ubact forthe resistance of be test eas. 1 The resistance function can produce enough voltage to formar-bias siicon dose or traitor junctions, causing them to conduct. To avoid his, donot use the 40M range {orin-ceut resistance measurements, * On 40M range, the meter may take & lew seconds to Stablize reading. This is nomal for high resistance measuring ie * When the inputs not connected, Lo. at open circuit, the ‘taure“OL' wil be splayed for ho overange conden 16 32.3 Diode Test 3.2.4 Continuity Chock “AX 7 avold electrical shock andor damage tothe Instrument, dieconnect circult power and discnarge a1 higirvoltege capecitore before testing diodes. “Ax 7? avoid electrical shock andlor damage to the Instrument, disconnect circuit power and digcharge all high-voltage capacitors before testing for Continuity. Most capacitors are In he nancfarad to microarad range. The Meter measures capacitance by charging tne capactor win a known curent fora known period of time, measuring the resuting votage, then calculating the capacitance, The measurement takes ‘about 1 92004 per range. ‘The Meto’e capecitance ranges are 4.000nF 40.00aF, 400 nF, 4.0004, 40,004F ard 200.OuF Tomeasure capactance 1. Sethe rotary etch to Cap range. 2. Connect the black and rod tet loads to tho COM and Cx twrninals respectively 8. Connect the test leads to the capacitor being measured ‘and read the displayed value. ‘Some tips for measuring capacitance: The meter may take a few seconds (200iF range, $0 seconde) to stablize reading. This Is normal for high capacitance measuring. + Toimprove the accuracy of measurements less than 4nF, subtract the resicual capactanoe ofthe Meter and leads. 2120 Frequency measurement Z\ 00 not measure Frequency on high voltage (6250) fo avoid electrical shock hazard andor {amage tote instrument “Sethe rotary swch 1 Hz ange. 2.
