Of the Worlds The Lord/ For All praise The The entirely Allah With the
Sustainer Allah especially merciful name of
merciful

 - I begin with (the help and blessing) of Allah.



 - (ra haa meem) excessiveness and vastness of the attribute of mercy = entirely
merciful, most merciful

Great amount of mercy, shows it again again and again- he shows mercy to everyone, every
creature, even those who do not believe in him ( it is through his kindness that we can breathe,
eat, we have home, intellect, ….)

Rahm is the womb of the mother where a child is completely protected and nourished.

Rahmah means mercy , compassion, sympathy, kindness, pity


To want something good for those who deserve it

 - merciful specifically towards, special mercy for some of his creation, only those

who believe in and worship Allah. Those who ask his assistance.



 - All praises.


He deserves all praise. Praise that is based on respect and love. It is very sincere. The one being
praised deserves it. Madh means praise but Hamd also includes gratitude. Praise and shukr. Why
is he being praised. Out of love and respect with gratitude.

The one who is doing hamd is doing it out of love and respect. Many time ppl praise others but
don’t love or respect them at all.
(Because he is the Lord of the Worlds.)
It is praise that is very sincere, and the one being praised deserves it.

Allah deserves praise for three reasons:


(1) Allah deserves praise because of his being
(2) In his characteristics. Similarly this could be in the quality – Allah swt has quality of mercy,
therefore he deserves praise
(3) He deserves praise bc of his action (he created us, sent down the quran to us, )
Laam conveys Ikhtisaas means specification Lillahi means only he deserves the praise bc he is
the rabb of the worlds (rabb = to nurture sthng till it reaches stage of perfection) done with care,
concern, mercy, love, protection

 - for Allah

 - Rabb (Raa ba ba) rabba/ yarribbu to gradually nurture with care, something so it

reaches its stage of completion and perfection.brings something from nonexistence to existance

Rabbatul bayt – refers to a woman- manager of the house

Rabb- Allah swt- creator, owner and planner

*Gives meaning of khaliq (creator) and malik (owner- the one who has complete authority over
sthng) and mudabbir (planner- who plans all of the affairs and matters)
Allah is the rabb of the aalimeen – the creator, the master and the planner of all of the worlds

Rabb- creator , owner, planner. He is the rabb of the entire worlds

Istihqaaq- worthiness, He is the only one who deserves it

 - of the worlds


Everything besides Allah


Aalim means a sign or indication of something, also refers to a flag

The creation is the sign of His existence- It proves the existence of a creator, every being points
to the existence of its creator
Allah is the rabb of the entire world

Aalimeen- human beings have a world

Firawn asked musa, what is this lord of the worlds, he replied Allah is the lord of the entire
heavans and the entire earth and whatever is between the two.
If he is the c reator, maker, organizer and manager of the entire world, does he not deserve
praise? Of course he does.

         

You worship Recompens day / especially entirely

 - merciful for everyone , entirely merciful


Possessor of vast, all encompassing mercy

 -special mercy to believers, especially merciful


Action of mercy- He shows this mercy



 - (Meem laam kaaf) have complete authority over sthng one owns
Allah swt is Maalik- he is the one who has complete authority and possession- he is the ruler
and the owner- nobody else is above him – no one has authority over him
Ppl may have complete authority over others but they do not own them
(1)to posess and own something
(2) complete authority over it
 - day (yaa waw meem) used for a time period, from one sunset to the next
General meaning- a day, 24 hr period
Specific meaning- a period of time

 - (daal, yaa, noon) the Recompense = Judgement, to get back exactly what you
deserve- it could be reward or punishment
Doesn’t mean day of recompense will be 24 hrs

Deen also conveys meaning of justice, to give justly or exactly what the person deserves.

He will have the supreme authority on that day.



 - only You

Iyya never comes alone, always comes with a pronoun then it means only

 - (‘ayn ba daal) - we worship

Litereal meaning of ‘ebadah is to show humility and love

Humility is shown through actions and words

Ebadah is the opposite of arrogance. Ebadah is every action Allah swt loves and is pleased
with (includes ritual acts, statements like dhikr and speaking the truth) actions could be
visible as well as hidden (good thoughts, gratitude, happiness).
Ebadah is to love everything Allah loves doing
(1) Do everything youre commanded to do
(2) Refrain from disobeying Allah
(3) Love everything that Allah loves- do out of love for Allah

To show weakness or submission out of love and humility for Allah swt

        

You Of Path The straight The path Guide us We ask for help

 - (‘ayn, waw, noon) is general help, any kind of help. we ask for help.



 - guide us (Haa, daal, yaa) guide someone with kindness, gentleness, take us,
help us, make us to reach, help them to reach the destination

Two types of guidance :to guide with affection and love


(1) Hidaya Irshaad- give knowledge about that which is correct and, guide them,
direct them
(2) Hidaya tawfiq- to act upon the knowledge

Give us knowledge , direction and ability to act on knowledge

 - Assiratul (Saad,r aa,taa) path that is wide, that is open, there are multiple
lanes on it, many people can travel on that path
Others say sirat means a path that is difficult to walk on

 - (Qaaf, waw, meem) the straight, upright, balanced, when used with

sirat, leads straight to the destination.


Guide us to the straight path/way. (the way that leads to jannah)
Once you have shown me the path, keep me firm on it




 - those

 - (noon, ‘ayn, meem) you bestowed favor upon them


Anamta refers to those who are guided (anbiyaa, saaliheen, ) people who sacrifice
their time and life for Allah swt

Nimah is a blessing that fulfills some need of a person, not necessity( air, breathing ,
food)
We have spiritual needs, social need, physical needs, emotional needs. Can still
survive without a need.

Nimah of iman, islam, hidaayah, faith islam, peity, not food, air , water (necessity)

Elsewhere in the quran, nimah is deen

I have completed my blessing on you (referring to deen)

Those who are And Upon Them Those who earned Other Upon

 - Maghdouob (ghayn, dawd, ba) –refers to the people who have
knowledge and don’t act upon it. anger that turns into revenge, inflicting
punishment on the one who angered you bc they knew they should not have done
it, they deliberately did sthng. Those who earn the anger of Allah (from their actions,
ways that are disproved by Allah)
everytime we disobey Allah, we incur his anger.

adhdalal- misguidance, error , to be astray, to be lost bc of lack of knowledge
Those who are astray, misguided, they are ignorant and they chooses to stay away,
Lost bc no guide bc no knowledge

69. and whoso obeys Allâh and the Messenger (Muhammad), Then they will be In the
company of those on whom Allâh has bestowed his Grace, of the Prophets, the
Siddiqûn (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe In
them, like Abu Bakr As-Siddiq ), the martyrs, and the righteous. and How excellent
These companions are!

Ameen-Oh Allah hear my dua and accept it


Hadith (Muslim) the prophet sas said that when any of you says in the prayer ameen
and the angels say it at the same time, all of his previous sins will be forgiven.



1. In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

2. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and All that exists).
3. the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

4. the Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

5. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

6. Guide us to the Straight Way

7. the Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your
Anger (such as the Jews), nor of those who went astray (such as the Christians).
