DAY 4/3/2023

THE OLD LION:

A lion had grown very old. His teeth were worn away and his limbs also became weaker and weaker. A
lion which had been called as the king of the beasts was very pitiful indeed as he lay gasping on the
ground, about to die.

Where are his strength and his former graceful beauty?

Now A Boar secretly followed him, rushed at him and gored him with his yellow tusk. A Bull attacked him
with his heavy hoofs. Terribly, an Ass let fly his heels and made his horrible insults in the face of the Lion

THE LESSON is that It is cowardly to attack the defenseless, though he is an enemy

Mispronounced words: beasts, rushed, terribly, puffed up, she

THE FROG & THE OX

One day, an Ox came down to a reedy pool to drink. As he splashed heavily into the water, he crushed a
young Frog into the mud.

The old Frog soon missed the little one and asked his siblings what had happened to him.

One of them said “A great big monster”, “stepped on little brother with one of his huge feet”

“Big? Was he as big as this” The old frog replied and puffed herself up then.

They cried and talked “Oh, much bigger”

The Frog puffed up still more

She said “He couldn’t have been bigger than this”. But the little Frogs still insisted on their thoughts that
the monster was much, much bigger and the old Frog kept puffing herself up more and more until she
burst.

The lesson of this story is that: Do not try to do something that is impossible.

A BELL FOR THE LION

One day, the Mice called a meeting to discuss the plan about how to free themselves from their enemy:
the Cat because they lived in fear of the her claws that they hardly dared to stir from their dens by day
or night. At least, they wished to know when she was coming so that they had enough time to run away.

There were many given plans but none of them was possible. Lastly, a very young mouse got up and
said: “I have a plan that seems very simple but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a
bell around the Cat’s neck. When we hear the bell ringing, we will know she is coming”

All the Mice were surprised and excited with that idea. Then an old Mouse arose and said “ I would like
to say that the plan of the young Mouse is very good but let me ask one question “Who will hang the
bell on the Cat’s neck”

The lesson of this story is that It is easy to say something should be done but quite a different matter to
do it or Actions speak louder than words
