GUIDELINES of ASSIGNMENT - 1
Objective
To understand the various processes which help the customers to procure the desired
merchandise from the retail stores for their end use refer to retail management. Retail
management includes all the steps required to bring the customers into the store and fulfill their
buying needs.

Scope
Details
1. A footwear retailer located in a seasonal coastal resort wants to choose the most appropriate
ways to target their market. Which would you choose, mass, concentrated or differentiated
marketing? Explain each approach as well as the reason for your choice of targeting method.
2. A competing bicycle store has a better location than yours. It is in a modern shopping center
with a lot of customer traffic. Your store is in an older neighborhood and requires customers to
travel farther to reach you. How could you use a merchandising, pricing, and communications
strategy to overcome your disadvantageous location?
2.5 Marks
Your assignment/case study must follow the instructions given below.
It should be neatly typed on A4 type of paper, using the 'font' Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5
Spacing, and page number on each sheet.
The assignment carries 2.5 marks and must be submitted in the soft form not later than 12-04-
