NARRATIVE REPORT

INTRODUCTION:

The Philippines is an archipelago that consists of 7,641 islands with a total


land area of 301,000 km2. The total area of marine waters including EEZ is
2,200,000 km2 and the total length of its coastlines is 36,289 km.The fisheries
sector is classified into capture fisheries and aquaculture, where capture
fisheries is subdivided into municipal, commercial, and inland fisheries. As
defined under Republic Act (RA) 8550 otherwise known as the Philippine
Fisheries Code of 1998 and as amended by RA 10654, municipal fisheries is
traditional, artisanal, subsistence or small-scale fisheries that involves the use
of vessels 3 gross tons (GT) or less as well as fishing operations that do not use
fishing boats while commercial fisheries include all fishing operations that use
vessels of over 3.1 GT. Inland fisheries operate in enclosed freshwater areas
such as lakes and reservoirs using vessels of 3 GT or less. 

OBJECTIVES:

Transformation of fisheries into a viable and sustainable industry with


institutions and markets internalizing costs. Efforts to enhance fisheries
resource governance will focus on the transforming the fishing industry
towards sustainability and long-term economic viability. Specifically, initiative
will be aimed at the avoidance and/or mitigation of negative externalizes i.e.
social and environmental costs caused by unsustainable and inequitable
fishing and fish farming practices, many of which are borne by the most
vulnerable groups in the industry – small scale fisher men and women

METHODOLOGY:

First, Sir.Bermon give us an activity which is a survey about fish production


in Market and we to know what types of fish that they sell in market and we
ask for the common names of that particular fish that they displayed in their
own areas and if they are cartilaginous or bony fish. We do this survey to
assure their product if its cartilaginous or bony.

This are the following common names of fish that we do in our survey.

RECOMMENDATION:

Eating different kinds of cooked fish has become a tradition for most
Filipinos. Fish is a more accessible food to prepare than meat, such as pork,
chicken, and beef.
Usually, fish is one of the most preferred foods for all occasions since it has a
varied taste from one fish species to another. Also, it contains less cholesterol,
and it can add more benefits to a healthy lifestyle. In the Philippines, fish are
prepared with different varieties of cooking styles. Since Filipinos love to
enhance their favorite food, fish is widely used and served on different
occasions.
