1) American Press Institute (2022) ) What is Journalism?

Certain distinguishable traits and behaviors make journalism distinct from other pursuits and
outcomes. These characteristics set journalism apart from different types of communication and make it
essential in democracies. History demonstrates that society tends to have more news and information the
more democratic it is.

2) Zelizer B. (2005) Thinking about Journalism

The various terms of news, the press, the news media, and information and communication
suggest profound differences in what individuals consider journalism to mean and their expectations of
journalists. Although the term journalist initially denoted someone who systematically kept a public
record of events in a given time frame, today, it is applied to individuals with a range of skills, including
publishers, photographers, field producers, Internet providers, and bloggers. Primarily associated with
journalism's craft dimensions, the term references the evolving skills, routines, and conventions involved
in making news.

3) The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica (2022) Journalism.

Journalism is the process of gathering, preparing, and disseminating news, as well as related
commentary and feature materials, through print and electronic media like newspapers, magazines, books,
blogs, webcasts, podcasts, social networking, and social media sites, as well as radio, movies, and
television. Newspapers were the primary medium for reporting current events when the term "journalism"
was first used. Still, as radio, television, and the Internet became more widely used in the 20th century,
the phrase came to refer to all printed and electronic communication that covered current affairs.
