5 Tighten the central crankshaft bearing cap
bolts (1) in the following stages,
1st stage 100 Nm
2nd stage 200 Nm
3rd stage 300 to 330 Nm
4th stage 90° to 100° angie of rotation
6 Measure the shank lenath of the side
crankshalt bearing cap bolts (2) (Wwelve-sided
bolts re-usable up to max. 86.5 mm), and tighten
in the following stages:
Hexagon bolt 80 Nm,
Twolve-sided bolt 1st stage 80 to 90 Nm
2nd stage 90° to 100°

9 Bolt on crankshatt bearing caps again.
Fitting new bearings and install
Note
Bearing shell halves with a dark back must be
installed at the cap end as they are specially
treated for high pressures.
1 Blow oil passages in crankcase clean with
compressed air, working from the oil pump end.
2 Clean crankshaft, bearings and bearing seats
with shammy leather. Clean oil passages of the
crankshaft with a wire brush and blow clean with
compressed air
3° Check the hardness of the crankshaft with
