Caraga Region
Caraga is an administrative region of the Philippines, on the northeastern portion
of the island of Mindanao, also called Region XIII. The Caraga Region was
created through the Republic Act No. 7901 on February 23, 1995. The region is
composes of five provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del
Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.

Abayan Festival
June 1 | Barangay Taft,
Surigao City
Sakay-Sakay Abayan is a procession at
sea conducted as tribute to the Patron
Saint of Bilang-Bilang, Virgen dela Paz Y
Buen Viaje - the patroness of good
voyage. The patroness is aboard a
decorated vessel followed by colorful
boats passing through the Surigao Strait
and back to the City wharf.
Bonok-Bonok

Happening every 10th of September,
Bonok-Bonok Festival is celebrated
through a colorful street dance
competition by different municipalities. It
originated from the early settlers in the
town, the Mamanwas. Bonok Bonok
Festival is also a tribute to St. Nicholas de
Tolentino, the city’s patron saint.
Bugkosan
sa Isla Dinagat Islands Festival

"Bugkosan" originated from the word
"pagbugkos" means to bind, "paghiusa"
to unite, "paghugpong" to merge,
"pagbug-os" to incorporate and
"pagtibu" to convene. It depicts unity
and cooperation among all Dinagatnons
and promotes the province tourism
potentialities.
Kaliguan

Cagwait, Surigao del Sur
A yearly festivity in honor of St. John the Baptist
highlighted by search for Perlas ng Kaliguan beauty
pageant and beach dancing.
"Kaliguan" is a coined word to mean location for a
good bath and thanksgiving for a blessed bounty. The
weeklong festivity holds a prestigious beauty pageant
(the Perlas ng Kaliguan), dance performances, sports
and cultural activities, all happening on the pristine
white beach and participated by neighboring
municipalities and cities.
Naliyagan
Naliyagan festival is a day of thanksgiving among
the natives for the bounties received for the year.
Thus, they bring in during the festival their agri-
industrial products for the people in the valley to
buy and savor. Naliyagan is a Manobo word which
means “the chosen one” or “the most loved one”. It
is a weeklong celebration of socio-cultural and arts
exposition of indigenous tribes in the entire Agusan
valley and displaying their skills and culture
through ritual activities, an exhibit of native
products, ethnic games and a host of sporting
tournaments and special events.
Pahinungod
A 10-day fiesta in the month of May,
this event commemorates the
Municipality of Calape’s rich ancestry
and devotion to the San Vicente
Ferrer, its town patron saint, and the
Calapehanons “pahinungod” (offer) to
come home annually.

"PAGSULAY"

JOHN LESTER E. GARCIA (born 2001) is an artist


from Remedios T. Romualez (RTR), Agusan del
Norte and currently a student. He was born in San
Pedro Laguna. John Lester started taking interest in
arts when he is four years old. In 2018, he was
introduced to Likha-Karaga, Inc. a visual art group
and began doing artworks. He usually creates
portraits using graphite and charcoal pencils.
Having mastered the charcoal and graphite
medium he later decided to venture in oil on canvas
and able to love the latter since.

Cris Tamis, Born on September 13, 1985.


He graduated and got his degree in
(STI-BUTUAN) with the degree on
Information Technology. He is a member
of Likha Karaga and he is also an
adviser for Guhit Pinas Agusan Chapter.
