Installing the Planar
Before carrying out any assembly, the maintenance technicians must know all the parts of the
machine listed in chapter 2.
A.support unit is supplied with pre-mounted sensors in order to simply the operations,
1, Attach the acquisition unit to the line and loosen screws Aand B, shown in figure C.
Proceed with caution and avoid using a hammer to adjust the unit
IMPORTANT
‘The support bar must be electrically isolated from the sorting line or conveyor belt it is mounted
on.
2. Connect the interface cable to the sensors and acquisition electronics (terminal board XT1),
Make sure the fastening slides on the sensors _ tightly block the connectors.
NOTE
‘The sensors must be installed according to their address; sensor 0 must always be installed
on the side opposite the panel from an electrical aspect (the furthest away on the cable, but not
necessarily from a physical aspect) Fig. A, Fig. D.

mma3. Connect the l/O devices (SORTING LINE, FTEL, ENCODER, SOLENOID VALVES, etc.)
to the terminal block of the APS board.
4, Place a tile to be checked under the reading unit
5. Release the sensors (Fig. B) and adjust them so that the edges of the external sensors are
aligned approximately with the edge of the tile and the sensors are symmetrical with the
centre of the tile (Fig. A).
6. Block the sensors.
7. Place the sample tile under the reading unit with the line stopped,
NOTE
The thickness of the sample tile must be the same as that of the tiles to be classified.
8, Raise or lower the acquisition unit with nuts D1 and D2 (see figure C) to bring the lower edge of
the sensors approximately 30 mm away from the sample tile.
9. Plugin the power cable to the machine as indicated in the following figure.
‘Then connect the plug to an electrical socket of the system provided with fuses of adequate
amperage, as well as a differential switch in accordance with standards of law.

10. Start the Planar.
11. Calibrate the Planar. If the calibrations fails or the procedure indicates that the Planar out-of-
tolerance, start the Planar Test utlity and repeat the positioning of the height of the
‘sensor bar, $0 as to bring the Value column readings to 0. Then repeat the calibration.
head (parallel to the direction of travel), A tile guide system (e.g. a self-centring guide with
In order to detect defects very close to the edges, the tiles must pass straight under the reading
wheels) should therefore be installed before the sensors.
