25. In figure, A, B and C are four points on a circle. AC and BD intersect at a point E such that ∠ BEC
= 130° and ∠ ECD = 20°. Find ∠BAC.

If the non – parallel sides of a trapezium are equal, prove that it is cyclic.

Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each.
26. Without plotting the points indicate the quadrant in which they will lie, if

27. The polynomials 3x3 + 2x2 – 5ax – 7 and x3 + ax2 – 12x + 6 when divided by x + 1 and x – 2
respectively, leave remainders R1 and R2 respectively. Find the value of a when R1 = R2

29. In countries like USA and Canada, temperature is measured in Fahrenheit, whereas in countries like
India, it is measured in Celsius. Here is a linear equation that converts Fahrenheit to Celsius:

(i) If the temperature is 30°C, what is the temperature in Fahrenheit?
(ii) If the temperature is 95°F, what is the temperature in Celsius?
(iii) Is there a temperature which is numerically the same in both Fahrenheit and Celsius? If yes, find
it.
30. Line l is the bisector of an ∠ A and ∠ B is any point on l. BP and BQ are perpendiculars from B to
the arms of LA (see figure). Show that
(i) ∆APB ≅ ∆AQB
(ii) BP = BQ or B is equidistant from the arms ot ∠A.

OR
Show that if the diagonals of a quadrilateral bisect each other at right
angles, then it is a rhombus.

31. If a transversal intersects two lines such that the bisectors of a pair of corresponding angles are
parallel, then prove that the two lines are parallel.

SECTION D
Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each.

33. Prove that :” The angle subtended by an arc at the centre is double the angle subtended by it at any
point on the remaining part of the circle.”
In below figure two chords AB and CD of a circle intersect at right angle. If ∠ABD =65°, find the
measure of ∠CAB.

34. The slant height and base diameter of a conical tomb are 25 m and 14 m respectively. Find the cost of
white-washing its curved surface at the rate of Rs.210 per 100 sq.m.
OR
A bus stop is barricaded from the remaining part of the road, by using 50 hollow cones made of
recycled cardboard. Each cone has a base diameter of 40 cm and height 1 m. if the outer side of each
of the cones is to be painted and the cost of painting is ₹12 per m2, what will be the cost of painting
all these cones? (Use π=3.14 and take  1. 04=1.02)

SECTION E
Case study based questions are compulsory.
36.  Triangles are used to make bridges because a triangle is an undeformed shape, as considered in the civil
engineering field. it can hold the most force when applied to it, compared to quadrilaterals and arches.
Isosceles triangles were used to construct a bridge in which the base (unequal side) of an isosceles triangle is 4
m and its perimeter is 20 m.

Now, answer the following questions:


(a) Write the formula of semi-perimeter of a triangle.
(b)Write Heron's formula for a triangle .
(c) What is the area of the highlighted triangle ?
Or,
If the sides of a triangle are in the ratio 3 : 5 : 7 and its perimeter is 300 m. Find
its area.

Once four friends Rahul, Arun, Ajay and Vijay went for a picnic at a hill station. Due to peak
season, they did not get a proper hotel in the city. The weather was fine so they decided to
make a conical tent at a park. They were carrying 300 m² cloth with them. As shown in the
figure they made the tent with height 10 m and diameter 14 m. The remaining cloth was used
for the floor.
(a) How much Cloth was used for the floor?
(b) What was the area of the floor?
Or,
What was the total surface area of the tent?
(c) What was the volume of the tent?

38. Ankit visited a mall with his father. He sees that three shops are situated at P, Q, R as shown in the
figure (where O is the centre ) from where they have to purchase things according to their need.
Distance between shop P and Q is 8 m, that of between shop Q and R is 10 m and between shop P and
R is 6 m.

(a) Find the radius of the circle.


(b) Find the distance of PR from the centre of the circle O.

If ∠ PRQ = 37°, find ∠ PQR.
(c) Name the figure formed by joining the points P, S, Q, R .
