Special Olympics is an International programme
competitions for both children and adults with special needs. The mission
af Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic
competition in anumber of Olympic type sports for individuals with disabilities.

physical fitness and experience the joys of sports.

Unified Basketball is played by two teams of five players each in the game
of five-on-five or two teams of three players each in a game of three-on-three.
The goal for each team is to shoot the ball into its opponent’s basket while
preventing the other team from either securing the ball or scoring. The ball can
be thrown, passed, batted, tapped or dribbled in any direction under the rules.
Indeed, unified basketball means a game of basketball in which students with Gercbecis)
and without intellectual disabilities play the game in a team with opponents’ team.
Basketball can take a number of forms which are described below:
Speed Dribble. Speed dribble is appropriate for such athletes who are either non-ambulatory or very low skilled.
Individual Skills Contest. Itis appropriate for athletes who have slow reactions, are unable to dribble the ball for more
than 10 metres.
Team Skills Basketball. Itis appropriate for athletes who are low skilled and are unable to pass and catch.
Half-Court Competition 3-on-3: Three-on-three is appropriate for athletes who are able to dribble a ball at least 10 m,
persue a moving ball, shoot a lay-up and pass and catch.
Full-Court Competition 5-on-5: It is appropriate for athletes who have good basic skills ie. passing, throwing, dribbling,
shooting, rebounding and dodging, etc. Such players are able to participate in unified sports basketball because they have
higher skills.
