The Model CTR-2000 system incorporates a unique “tilting” C-arm design. These features combine to provide you with an effective diagnostic tool for mammographic exams. ABOUT THIS MANUAL ‘This manual contains information on how to install and operate the Bennett mammography systems. The following is a brief overview of the contents of each section: * SECTION 1, PRODUCT INFORMATION - includes safety notices and recommendations, and compliance and x-ray protection notices. It also provides system information, specifications, compatibility statements, and a description of system controls and indicators. The information in this section is similar to the information contained in the Operator's Manual + SECTION 2, INSTALLATION - provides procedures for installing the system. * SECTION 3, CALIBRATION - provides calibration procedures, including kVp, mA, and system electronics; also included are DM-1500 collimator adjustment procedures. + SECTION 4, PLANNED MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING - provides procedures and guidelines for the service technician. + SECTION 3, THEORY OF OPERATION - provides an analysis of signal flow on block and component levels. «© SECTION 6, SCREMATICS - includes electronic and mechanical drawings. * Patent no, 5,305,365 MAMMOGRAPHY SYSTEM 1A FIRST EDITION REVISION A 4/30/99 featuring a rotational arm and fixed 76 cm Source-to-Image Distance (SID). Model PRODUCT INFORMATION Service Manual SYSTEMS DESCRIPTIONS Models CTR-2000 and PRO-2000 are dedicated mammographic imaging systems ‘CTR-2000 features a unique tilting C-arm that contours the image receptor to the patient's anatomy, utilizing the natural foree of gravity to make it easier to obtain more breast tissue on the image receptor. When combined with the 76 cm SID, this feature allows the technologist positioning capabilities which were previously not achievable, When operating in the Bennett Automatic Controlled Exposure (BACE) mode, the CTR-2000 and PRO-2000 systems are programmed for automatic selection of optimal mA, kVp and mAs exposure factors based on breast thickness and type of examination desired. An optional label printer provides complete technique information for each exposure taken. Models CTR-2000 and PRO-2000 operate using a single-phase 208-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz jine input. SAFETY NOTICE Models CTR-2000 and PRO-2000 mammographic imaging systems, manufactured by Bennett, will function reliably when operated, maintained, and repaired according to the ; instructions provided in this manual. Bennett cannot assume responsibility for any malfunctioning of this equipment resuhting from improper operation, maintenance, or repair, or from damage or modification of its components. This equipment can be hazardous to both patient and operator unless established safe exposure factors are observed. X-ray equipment is sold to be used exclusively by or under the prescribed direction of a person who is licensed by law to operate equipment of this nature. of this equipment. SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS shanicalElectrical All moveable assemblies and parts of this equipment must be operated with care. Manufacturer's equipment recommendations described in this manual must be observed. Routine inspection of these assemblies should be performed by qualified se personnel on a semi-annual basis. Only properly trained service personnel should be Permitted access to internal assemblies, as live electrical components may be present ‘Be sure line disconnect switches are open or other appropriate safety precautions are followed before service work is performed. Initial kVp must be manually selected in this mode; exposure is terminated by the AEC sensor ciccuitry. * Bennett Automatic Controtied Exposure (BACE) Mode: also referred to as Auto-kV mode), this mode enhances soft tissue imaging by autornatically ‘measuring/displaying breast thickness and setting initial kVp, mA, and back-up timer prior to exposure. If necessary to achieve optimal film density, the system will automatically increase the kVp value and complete the exposure. The final kVp and mAs values appear on the operator ‘control panel display following the exposure. CONTROLS AND INDICATORS. * Operator Control Panel: features a touch-sensitive key pad and cold cathode LED display for direct operator access and control. + C-arm: features controls on both the right and left side for ease of operation. OPERATOR CONTROL PANEL The Operator Control Panel (OCP) serves two basic functions. It affords the technologist complete control over system operations and provides visual indication of system status through an LCD sereen display and LED indicators. Featuring push-button operation, the technologist enters all information at the control panel with simple keystrokes. The system “responds” to each entry with an audible signal, providing confirmation of selection. The following is a detailed description of the controls and indicators found on the control panel. Refer to Figure 1-5 for reference as you read the descriptions. LCD DISPLAY: This high resolution display references _ the technique settings for kVp, mA, time, mAs, and cm values for the compressed breast according to the selected mode. It also references the patient's identification number and the heat unit computer reading. LED INDICATORS: A lit indicator lamp indicates an activated function. READY.
