This ebook fits into my potential research because it has everything that I would need to know about what it
takes to be an Anesthesiologist Assistant. Such as, who is an Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA), what the AA’s
do, where they work, and how much their income is, positive/negative aspects, and what is needed for
education to become an AA. This ebook gives me the answers to all of my questions, and will help me in
writing about an AA. Many wonder about how an AA does work around an Anesthesiologist during surgery,
and this ebook simply states, “During the surgery the AA, under the direction of the anesthesiologist, can
perform airway management and drug administration, and just anesthetic levels on a minute-to-minute basis,
and do intraoperative monitoring” (pg. 15). The AA’s are the ones who really control most of everything, as in
being in a patient's room while also working in the laboratory of the operating rooms. Anesthesiologists are not
limited to any circumstance, they have many responsibilities. Gathering preoperative information, such as a
patient's medical history, is one of their responsibilities. The injection of venous and arterial catheterization, as
well as specific catheters for monitoring of vital signs, are preoperative procedures. Exercising airway control,
administering medicine, including narcotics, treating patients in the recovery room and the critical care unit,
observing the patient after surgery, and minute-by-minute adjusting the anesthetic doses.
