Servicing
Pump and Motor Assembly
This assembly should be serviced at 4-5,000 miles (72,420km)
or 1500 hours, whichever is the soonest.

The pump and motor should be stripped and examined as detailed in SB/FS/7o

Metering Distributor/Control Unit

Negligible wear occurs with these units and
periodic servicing is therefore unnecessary. However, at the same time as a
major overhaul of the vehicle is being carried out, the metering dist~ioutor/
control unit should be examined for signs of damage, external evidence of fuel
leakage and general condition.

Modifications
Manifold Connexion
TIle manifold (depression signal) connexion 011 the control uni t
is no~ a rightangle union, which allows improved ·routing of the pipe. It is
most important that this connexion is connected to the inlet manifold and not
the a~jacent straight union.

Overfuel Lever Assembly

The lever position has been altered slightly and a bracket
attached to the depression chamber cover provides a positive stop for the lever
and also acts as a securing point for the cable outer casing.

The bracket is secured by two of the cover screws which have been increased in
length by i"
(3mm) to allow for the extra thickness of the bracket.
An additional spring has also been provided, being located under the overfuel
lever.

Timing Marks
The timing arrow on the body casting at the drive end has now been
deletedg In its plGlce a scribed line is employedo This mark has been moved
approximately 100 in a clockwise direction when viewed from the drive end.

The:.timing marks therefore now consist~ of a scribed line on the rotor and a
similar line on the body. It should be noted that the line o~ the rotor is
hardly visible.

Timing Procedure
For correct timing, the timing marks on the metering distributor
should be aligned. Alternatively, remove the union that is connected to
cylinder No.6 and turn the rotor until the rotor and outlet ports are aligned.

The engine should now be t~rr:ed until NOol piston is at T.D.C. on the firing
strokeo

At this setting of metering distributor and engine, the injection of fuel

commences at T.D.C. on the induction stroke.

If the metering distributor is "now offered up to the engine the driving

mechanisms should be in line. If they are not, the engine timing is
incorrect.

After fitment refit the union.

Ad1ustment of the Relief Valve

The relief valve is located on the rear of the
nearside chassis member. If adjustment of the relief valve is required it
will be necessary to raise the car off the ground to permit access to the valveo
