Lord Grigor Phi-Born

Technopontiff of the Conclave, Hero of Belis Corona,

Apprentice to the Arch-Magos

It is a time-honoured truth that while the flesh is

weak, steel endures. So it is with one of the most
unlikely heroes to emerge into the bleak dystopia
of this sundered galaxy, Grigor Phi-born. From
the forges of the Temple of the Frictionless Piston
on Mars, to the orbital stations of Belis Corona on
the edge of the Eye of Terror and Draxum Prime
in the Galactic East of Imperium Nihilus, Grigor
has strode a hundred battlefields in service to
Arch-Magos Belisarius Cawl, the Omnissiah, and
the Imperium at large.

Initially an outcast even within the Priesthood of

Mars, Grigor has hitched his wagon to the Arch-
Magos’ star. Where before his zealotry verged on
disruptive, it now serves the purpose of driving Cawl’s exploratory missions faster and further than
had previously been possible. In truth Cawl finds Grigor a curiosity, albeit a useful one, and has
rewarded his undeniable efficiency with honour-upon-honour within the Mechanicus, or at least those
sects that countenance the Arch-Magos and his innovation.

Most recently, Cawl has come into possession of an ancient Necron star-chart, plotting the locations
of great beacons and deposits of Blackstone across the galaxy. Grigor and Cawl’s other acolytes have
thus dispersed far and wide to determine which of these facilities remain intact and to gather as much
Blackstone as they can. Cawl senses the time is rapidly approaching when he might begin his Great
Work, of stitching together realspace once again and closing the Cicatrix Maledictum for good.

Rarely leading from the front, Grigor prefers to bide his time, calculating the best opportunity for his
precision fire and ballistics calculations to have maximum impact. Gifted the ancient technorelic ‘The
Phosphoenix’ by Cawl himself, Grigor’s battlefield expertise seems certain to achieve the esoteric
goals of his master, and perhaps more importantly his own continued unlikely survival.
