Activity: Batik Making

Materials:

4x5 White cloth (cut and preferably used)

Venus Dye color (any color of your choice)
1 cup Vinegar
Water (the more water use the lighter the color)
1:4 / ¼ cup Salt [1 galloon water: 4 tablespoons salt/ ¼ cup]
Rubber bands

Instruction:
1. Boil water along with salt and vinegar (so it won’t fade after dying your clothes)
2. Mix Venus Dye first and then boiled water into the basin.
3. Put rubber bands in your cloth if you want to have a design. Tie it to the area where you wanted
to have the design.
4. Put your clothing into the mixture and DO NOT LEAVE IT or else the color would not be
appropriately distributed. You need to flip the clothing form time to time, or if what water is still
hot, you can stir it with a spoon or a wooden stick. Don’t worry; the color won’t stick to your
spoon. Do it for 30mins. (if you wish you can have it more than an hour until the water gets cold.
5. When you’re done, wash your clothing with cold water WITHOUT SOAP/DETERGENT.
6. When you’re done, make sure that you’ll DRY IT COMPLETELY AND IRON IT BEFORE WASHING IT
AGAIN
7. Paste the cloth in the bondpaper.

What to write in your bondpaper:

- Activity no.
- Name
