LDF-3 engine oil

Applications
Scania LDF-3 engine oil is Scania's latest specification of lubricants. It has been developed to pro-
vide extended oil change intervals and it has been specially developed to reduce the total cost of
ownership.

• The oil is primarily developed for Euro 6 engines with exhaust gas aftertreatment system. For
these engines it is important that the oil transfer to the exhaust gases does not reduce the effi-
ciency of sensors, catalytic converters and particulate filters.
• Scania LDF-3 is fully backward compatible with the older Scania LDF-2 and Scania LDF specifi-
cations. Therefore, Scania LDF-3 can be used on older Scania engines which comply with
requirements for Euro 2, Euro 3, Euro 4 and Euro 5. Scania LDF-2 or Scania LDF cannot be used
if LDF-3 is required. The reason for this is that the older specifications may be toxic for the
exhaust gas aftertreatment system. In addition, Scania LDF-3 is superior regarding performance
in relation to the service life of the engine.

Properties
• The Scania LDF-3 specification is a unique combination, an engine oil which is specifically
designed to ensure the service life of the engine as well as extended oil change intervals. At the
same time it prevents the exhaust gas aftertreatment system from deteriorating due to oil transfers
to the exhaust system.
• Scania LDF-3 protects against soot wear, carbon deposits and deposits on the piston and in the
engine. It reduces the inspection requirement and the risk of unplanned downtime even in extreme
operating conditions.
