6. In your own words, what is signifier and signified? (5 points all)

 The signifier is the physical representation of the sign and it can be


sensed by the five senses: sight, sound, taste, and smell. Therefore, It is
the actual sign itself. Any spoken or written word serves as a signifier for
the concept it denotes.

 The signified is the thing or idea to which the sign (the signifier) refers
in the beholder's mind or when they see it. In other words, it is the idea,
significance, or object that the signified refers to.
7. This has to do with the particular features, aspects, and qualities of the images
which are signifiers.
