As per Table 5 of IS:456, maximum water — cement ratio = 0.50 Based on experience, adopt water-cement ratio as 0.44 0.44 <0,50 Hence OK 6.0 SELECTION OF WATER CONTENT. From table 4 of IS 10262:2019, maximum water content = 186 Kg Estimated water content for 100-125 mm slump = 186+ (9/100 x186) Kg = 202.74 say 203kg As superplasticizer is used the water content may be reduced. Based on trial data, the water content reduction of 9 % . Hence the water content = {203 ~ 18.27} = 184.73Kg. 7.0 CALCULATION OF CEMENT CONTENT: Water-cement ratio = 0.44 Cement Content = 184,73/0.44= kg/m? say 419 kg/m As per IS: 456, the minimum cement content for moderate (RCC) condition = 300 kg/m? 419> 300 kg/m?, Hence O.K. 8.0 PROPORTION OF VOLUME COARSE AGGREGATE AND FINE AGGREGATE CONTENT: From Table 5 of IS 10262:2019, Volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20 mm size aggregate and fine aggregate (Zone-M) for water—cement ratio 0.50 = 0.62. In the present case water ~ cement ratio is 0.44 therefore, volume of coarse aggregate is required to be increased to decrease the fine aggregate content, As the water-cement ratio is lower by 0.06, the proportion o° volume of coarse aggregate is increased by 0.012 (at the rate +/- 0.01 for every +/- 0.05 change in water ‘cement ratio). Therefore, corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water-cement ratio of 0.44 = 0.62+0.012= 0.632 ‘Volume of fine aggregate content = 1- 0,632 = 0.368 says 0.37 Page-3 NKM Research & Developnent, itn road Pnjore, MC Panchkula, Zone Pinjre-134102 (Hy). If otherwise, when computing the requirement of mixing water, allowance shall be made for the free (surface) moisture contributed by the fine aggregate and coarse aggregates. On the other hand, if the aggregates are dry, the amount of mixing water should be increased by an amount equal to the moisture likely to be absorbed by the aggregates. Necessary adjustments are also required to be made in mass of aggregates. The surface water and percent watet absorption of aggregates shall be determined according to IS: 2386. Note: 1.
