Again Good day everyone, I am Rose Ann Romero, your 4th Stress buster for today.

“Stress should be a powerful driving force, not an obstacle”. Have you heard this quote?
A simple quote with a deep meaning which can change your perspective when we talk about
stress. Today what we’re going to do is to embrace this kind of mental problem and turn it as a
powerful weapon which we can use to make ourselves better.

Our life is not full without any experiences which makes us happy and at the same time it
makes us down. There are times when we just feel lonely, not in the mood to interact with other
people, walking in your room without any reason, staring at your ceiling, feeling tired without
doing anything and we feel empty until such time that we are crying without any reason. These
things are usually experienced by many of us including myself because I personally passed
through these kinds of situations. Stress can affect the way we think, the way we act and the way
we deal with the situations in our life. Stress can affect your relationships, your ability to
concentrate during remote or in-person classes, and it can have a negative effect on your immune
system, making you more prone to illness. Now, for us to handle and manage the effects of stress
to ourselves, we must know how to cope with stress or the coping mechanisms to overcome
stress.

According to the study of Gallop in 2019, about one-third of people around the world
reported feeling stressed. Common symptoms are headache, tiredness and sleeping problems.
Based on the survey conducted by Gallop in 2018, among the top 12 countries which has been
reported as the most stressed nations, the Philippines ranked second with 58% of its population
who are experiencing stress a lot. Stress management is an important skill and practice which we
can consider and apply for us to maintain our mental estate and well-being. Getting enough
sleep, exercising regularly, paying attention to what is more important, meditation, limiting
caffeine intake, giving time for yourself and enough rest.

Considering these practices can help you cope with your stress and at the same time you
can control your feelings and emotions towards any situation. It can help you control what makes
you unwell and can be productive as much as you could be. Improving yourself as a priority is a
good idea but we shouldn’t let this affect our goals in life. Being a self-centered individual can
also affect our behavior and relationship to other people and we should pay attention to that.
Stress cannot be totally avoided but we can do things which can help us overcome and at
lease lessen the impact of stress to ourselves. Having a positive mind will really help us, hanging
out with your family and friends and having a good mindset can really help you grow, manage
your stress, and improve your mental health.

In these past few months, I’ve been practicing my own way of overcoming stress and so
far, it is really working. It came up with the abbreviation of STRESS. S, stay calm, relax, people
who usually rush things can possibly get into trouble thus, resulting to more stress that’s why we
should stay calm, allow ourselves to relax for a while before we keep going. Second, Take a nap,
recharge yourself and clear your bad thoughts in your mind, being an optimistic individual can
attract positive outcome. R- romanticize yourself. Go have a simple date with yourself. Give a
moment wherein you can show that if no one doesn't give worth to you, doesn't show the love
that you deserve, then love yourself. At least there's an assumption that you cannot hurt your
feelings and can’t bring stress to you. E- embrace what makes you feel stress and treat it as a
challenge for you to grow and improve. These can make you a productive individual. S- save
time for yourself, have a quality time because you deserve rest and doing the things which makes
you happy. S-say in your mind, "I can do it", a simple motivation that can change the way you
see yourself. Yes, the process of being a successful is tough but we’ll get through there because
if we’re craving for something which can make our lives better, then nothing can beat us down.
Its okay to rest, its okay to be tired, but we should never quit. Quitting has always been for
losers, but we’re not losers right? So, we must continue taking our journey. Stress can change
your mood, but never allow it to change your future. We should always remember that.

I would like to end my speech with this quote by Elbert Hubbard.

Positive anything is better than negative nothing

When it comes down to it, positive, optimistic people are happier and healthier, less
stress and enjoy more success than those who think negatively. A positive outlook is the thing
that will help you going when times get tough. Thank you.
