Language focus: The Present Perfect Tense

Lesson aims:
- To develop Ss's speaking and listening comprehension skills
- To reinforce the Present Perfect Tense and to use it in real life situations
Objectives: By the end of the lesson the Ss will be better able to:
- Use the language in writing
- Listen for specific information
- Use the words and phrases in real life circumstances
Skills involved: speaking, writing, listening comprehension
Aids: textbook, board, audio cassette, worksheets

Stages:

- Activity 1:Warm-up: ( 3 min)


Teacher greets the Ss, checks homework and corrects the mistakes as a whole-class
activity
Skills: reading

- Activity 2: ( 10 min )
Teacher asks Ss to listen to the cassette and write down what the characters have just
done. Ss write the seven sentences on the board
Class management: whole class activity
Skills: listening, writing, speaking

- Activity 3: ( 5min )
Teacher asks the Ss to write down 5 sentences expressing activities which they have just
done.(Recently completed action). Students take turns in reading their sentences.

- Activity 4: What have you done today? (Unfinished period of time) (10min)
T asks Ss to go in groups of four and asks them to write five things they have done today
on a piece of paper. Ss in one group ask questions to find out what Ss in the other groups
have done today.

Ex:
A Judy, have you had breakfast today?
B Yes, I have./No, I haven't. The S who gets the greatest number of affirmative answers
is the winner.

- Activity 5: (5min)
Teacher hands out the text of a rap song and asks Ss to guess the missing verbs. Then T
plays the cassette, Ss listen to the cassette to see if they were right. They make the
necessary corrections and sing the song together.
Students'activity: Ss write down the missing verbs, then sing the rap song

- Activity 6: (5min)
Teacher asks the Ss to look at the pictures in the book and fill in speech bubbles using the
given verbs. Ss then write them on the blackboard.

- Activity 7: (5 min)
Teacher asks the Ss to look at the pictures in ex 4 and complete the sentences using the
verbs illustrated. T checks the sentences as a whole-class activity, Ss take turns to read
the sentences

- Activity 8: (5 min)
Teacher asks the Ss to match the sentence parts in ex 7

- Feed-back: Has she done everything? (5min)


T asks the Ss to make up questions and answers using the pictures and the two lists in the
textbook

-Homework:
Write 5 sentences expressing things somebody in your family has just done/has done this
week.
