Story

Project:OPPOSITES UNITE

Theme: contrasts are not contradictions, they are additions

World/time: (where can it happen?) it happen in today’s life (pretty much in all oficces)

Visual tool: Stop Motion clay animation

Main characters: We have two main characters. Our characters are made of plasticine. The
1st one is an old man and the second one is a young girl. Audience attention will be paid just
on them, there will not be any other characters at all. Our audience knows that the man is old
because he has gray-haired moustaches, gray-haired hair with a bald head. He is sluggish due
to his age. Also, the audience knows that the girl is young because of her look and active
behavior(she is filled of energy in comparison with the old man).

ECONMAN
Glasses
Pretty old ( as Economics is an old science)
Stubborn
Loves calculating
Relatively resistant to change
Precise
Rational
Stingy on emotions

SOCIGIRL
A young woman
Active (much)
Loves to show off her intelligence
Thinks that knows everything (NT)
VERY nosy
Proactive, pro-change
Expressive

Conflict: will contain fight, action, (conflict of good vs evil?

ECONMAN and SOCIGIRL do not get along because of many differences that exist between
disciplines they represent. However, when the challenge appears in front of them, they
understand that differences do not really matter and sciences can be united for the purpose of a

greater good. There is a critical point when they understand this, so it can be the CONFLICT
that leads to PEACE + COOPERATION

Logline: ECONMAN is sitting at the table, calculating; SOCIGIRL is busy running surveying
people (behind the scenes)
ECONMAN is annoyed, he asks her (gestures) to slow down a little as she is distracting him
from his work
She stops and scatters all his writings, calling to be more active
They start fighting over the differences that exist in the sciences relevant to them (needs to be
thought through) NEEDS TO BE FUNNY
When a challenge comes...social problem... ( how to illustrate it?)...they decide to unite and
fight against it together
A HUG!

Final idea:

Origin of your idea: Our project was motivated by a short stop-motion clay character
animation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtV4veTUMUs) What we liked about this
video is how the characters animated, how their feelings are expressed through the “
Clay” emotions. Simple, yet funny and even deep, it inspired us to use stop clay animation to
animate our characters

Character Design
Character description: Who is your character? Where does he come from? What is your
target audience?
Internal: ECONMAN is an old man who are economist and he likes to make calculations.
This is his major job and he enjoys it. He is working at a company on a position of financial
director. He is afraid of noisy atmosphere, especially when someone tries to disturb him while
he is working. Otherwise, he is able to make some mistakes in calculations while making
analysis of financial operations within the company and he can have troubles at work as a
consequence.
External: He is wearing a black/gray suit. His shape is quadratic. The counter is solid. He
looks like strong and solid. He is well-fed, his features create the closed contour (corners of
eyes are lowered down). He wears glasses with big lenses because the more lenses of glasses,
the more awe is caused by the person who wears them. Also, he should have an official look,
but we want to make it a little bit funny and will add just a tie to his look.

Internal: SOCIGIRL is a young woman, who is intelligent, but tries to show it off too much.
She is independent and strong. She loves makes a world a better place, so everytime she has an
opportunity to do so - she takes the risk. Yes, she is risky but for the sake of the whole world!
One might say that she is trying to build an utopian world, but that is not true. Helping people
is both her calling and her hobby. The only fear she has to work for improvements of the
society with some snobbish, resistant, and passive person. Such people annoy her, yet she tried
to make her best to get them on “her”board of activeness and change.

External: She is quite expressive, has many emotional expressions. She is really energetic.
Her contour is roundish and smooth. She will probably wear something in yellow-green color
(for yellow to be more bright). We want to juxtapose our characters, so we will do it
through colors and shapes.
