INVITATION
The Italian Geotechnical Association (AGI) and the University of
Bologna are delighted to welcome you all to the 5th International
Symposium on Cone Penetration Testing, CPT’22, to be held in
Bologna, Italy, 8 to 10 June 2022. The CPT’22, organized under the
auspices of the of the ISSMGE Technical Committee TC102, follows
the successful symposia held in Delft (2018), Las Vegas (2014),
Huntington Beach (2010) and Linköping (1995).
As tradition of the CPT events, which foster a lively debate on
recent advancements on cone penetration testing, the Symposium
aims at providing Researchers, Practitioners and Contractors with a
unique opportunity of sharing up-to-date knowledge in equipment,
testing procedures, data interpretation and related practical
applications, as well as at discussing emerging solutions and new
ideas with the largest gathering of world’s experts, academics and
non-academics, working in the broad and dynamic area of CPTs.
The Symposium will be held in Bologna, one of the most important
and beautiful towns in Italy, internationally renowned for its artistic
heritage, culture and intense economic activity.

ABSTRACTS AND THEMES

Prospective Authors are invited to submit abstracts by 30 April 2021, using the online submission tool. For further information,
please visit the symposium website www.cpt22.org.
The symposium themes encompass well-established topic categories typically addressed in CPT events (Equipment and
Testing Procedures, Data Interpretation, Applications), but also innovative research areas and emerging fields of CPT
application. Emphasis is expected to be placed, among others, on the use and interpretation of cone penetration tests in
“unusual soils” (e.g. intermediate, residual, volcanic, earth fills, tailings and any other geomaterial with limited experience),
innovative analytical and numerical strategies for CPT data interpretation, comparative/combined studies between CPT and
DMT and/or other in-situ tests, applications of CPT to offshore engineering and to environmental engineering, soil liquefaction
studies, experience from geotest sites.
The Conference Proceedings will be indexed in Scopus.
