1. What is a hotel?
Hotels are places that provide lodging to visitors and sometimes permanent residents

and are usually equipped with restaurants, meeting rooms, shops, attractions, beaches,

and games that are available to the general public but are also subject to the hotel's

management and politic.

2. Different types of hotels?

1- Chain hotels: we can find these types of hotels all over the world since they are the

most common type of hotels. Chain hotels most of the time are under a group of

hotels that are under the management of the same owner.

2- Motels: is a hotel located nearby the road, a roadside hotel, which provides parking

space, these types of hotels serve business and commercial attending, is create for

people that is travelling.

3- Resorts: a resort is a place, alike to a hotel, it offers relaxing or recreation as

beaches, restaurants, games, bars.

4-Inns: Those are hotel, located in the outside of the city.

6- Convention center hotels: hotels with more than 50 rooms that provide services

and facilities for hosting meetings or gatherings on their premises or within a facility

on their premises

7- Extended stay hotels: these types of hotels have long term stay for guests.

8- Boutique hotels: is a tiny hotel, do not have more than 100 rooms, most of the

time located on fashionable urban locations.

9-Bunkhouses: serve simple night pass accommodation for workers.

10- Bed and breakfasts: as the name says, it just brings overnight accommodations

with breakfast.
10-Eco hotels: is a hotel with features, accommodations, and services 100%

ecofriendly.

11-Hostels: is a hotel that offers rooms with low cost and opportunities to meet

people since you have to share room.

3. Characteristics of the hotels

1- Staff with good costumer service

2- Hotels have to be located in a good and affordable place.

3- Cleanliness and hygiene always come first.

4- A hotel must have a home environment.

5- Good and fast service.

6- Numerous rooms.

7- Must have recreation areas.

4. How are they categorized?

A hotel can be categorized based on its size, location, services, star rating, and

amenities. In the hotel industry, hotels are generally classified according to the level

of service they offer (full-service or limited-service) and the type of property they

own (full-service resorts, limited-service hotels, etc.).

5. Departments of the hotel and their function

1- Front office department

This department contain the reservation, front desk, registration, where the main

purpose is the room assignment, billing and also the check in and out process.
2- Housekeeping department:

This department is the one that take care of the cleanliness, and the aesthetic of the

different types of rooms, public and share areas, in general all the areas in the

surroundings of the hotel.

3-Food and beverage service:

This department is the one taking care of the food and drinks that are serves to the

people in the hotel. Also manages the kitchen and bar establishments.

4- Engineering and maintenance department:

This area is responsible of the maintaining and repairing of all the machines, water

services, such as shower, pools... also take care of the energy, in the rooms and

external areas of the hotel.

5- Accounts and credits department:

This place on the hotel handles financial process such ass billing, reimbursement,

accounts receivable, budgeting.

6- Security department:

The security department of a hotel look forward to keep the environments and people

save.

8- HR department

HR stands for human resource, the people working in this area are responsible of the

training, hiring, utilization of the hotel.

9- Marketing department:

the main function of this department is increasing the sales of all the products that the

hotel offers to the guests.


6. Classifications of hotels

1- One star hotel

2- Two star hotel

3- Three star hotel

4- Four star hotel

5- Five star hotel

6- Luxury hotel

7- Mid Range

7. Different types of room

1- Single room: for just one person or a couple.

2- Double room: this type of rooms always has a double bed because if design for 2

people.

3- Triple room: the capacity of this room in for 3 people, has the amount of

bathroom, utilities, beds for 3 people.

4- Quad room: this room can take many people since is big enough to have

numerousness beds.

5- Standard room: is a room just as the single room, it has a queen bed and is for

affordable for a single person.

6- Deluxe room: is a bigger room, most of the time it has a good view, such a ocean

view, this type of rooms are big enough for a small family or a small among of

people.

7- Cabana: cabana are rooms that go straight to the pool.

8- Villa: these types of rooms are most common to find in resorts, the main

characteristic of this rooms is that are more private, have a kitchen, living room, etc.
9- Penthouse: this rooms are not offer in all the hotels since they are very exclusive

and they have ultimate luxury amenities.

8. What is a vacation club?

This program or membership is offered in the tourism and hospitality sector to give

customers or partners greater ease and flexibility when it comes to vacationing, as

well as preferential rates. Most holiday clubs are managed by a points system, with

which guests can make reservations. Depending on the type of membership the person

has chosen, it will be the total amount of points they can use to pay for nights of

lodging, food and drinks, among other benefits.

A vacation club is an alternative to time-sharing. Vacation clubs are a variant of the

timeshare model. They are similar to timeshare in the sense that you still have to pay a

fixed fee to use a holiday property for a fixed annual period.

9. What is the difference between a hotel and a vacation club?

In contrast to hotels, vacation club offer long-term memberships, whereas hotels have

single reservations.

10. What is a liner?

A liner is a long ship where people go to a place to another with long distances must

of the time on holidays, for example: luxury ocean liners.

11. What is a closer?

The closer is responsible for finalizing client financial deals. In order to optimize the

closing strategy, they evaluate buyers throughout the selling process.


They may supervise the training and development of newer sales associates and work

with other sales professionals
