Warning Levels: Level 1
Warning Levels: Level 1
When the ECM activates an event code, the operator is alerted by the Cat® Monitoring
System. The active event will be logged by the ECM. The active event code can be
reviewed by using the Cat® Monitoring System or the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat®
ET) service tool.
Warning Levels
According to the severity of the abnormal system condition, one of three different
"Warning Levels" is assigned to the "Event Code" by the ECM. Each warning level
requires a specific response from the operator. The "Warning Levels", and the required
operator responses, are listed below.
Level 1
For Warning Level 1, the following conditions occur:
Note: The indicator that illuminates or the gauge that is in the red zone identifies the
machine system that needs attention.
Level 2
For Warning Level 2, all the following conditions occur:
Note: Press the "OK" button to acknowledge any warning messages. Press the "OK"
button to snooze the action light and the message on the display screen.
Level 2s
For Warning Level 2s, all the following conditions occur:
Note: Press the "OK" button to acknowledge any warning messages. DO NOT press the
"OK" button to snooze the action light and the message on the display screen.

Advisor
The Advisor alerts the operator when an event code is active. Event codes are activated
in one of three warning levels according to the severity of the condition. Table 1 lists the
indications and system responses.

Cat® ET
When an abnormal operating condition occurs, the status screen on Cat® Electronic
Technician (Cat® ET) indicates that there is an active event.

The "E" means that the code is an event code. The "XXXX" is a numeric identifier. The
numeric identifier is followed by the warning level and the description of the code.
Active event codes are listed in ascending numerical order. The code with the lowest
number is listed first. The active event code is removed from the list when the condition is
no longer present.
A logged code is cleared from memory when one of the following conditions occur:
A new code is logged and there are already ten logged codes in memory. In this
case, the oldest logged code is cleared.
Note: Always clear logged event codes after investigating and correcting the problem
which generated the code.
Troubleshooting
Perform the following steps when troubleshooting an event:
Determine the engine operating conditions at the time of the event. Conditions
such as engine rpm and load may be important.
Determine if there are any systems that were installed by the dealer or by the
customer that could cause the event.
2. Verify that the event is not due to normal machine operation. Verify that the event is
not due to error of the operator.
Note: For a comprehensive list of Power Train Electronic Control System, Braking
System, Chassis Electronic Control System, and VIMS, Monitoring, and Payload fault
codes: Refer to Special Instruction, M0074080, "Event Code List for 793F and 797F Off-
Highway Trucks".

Probable causes for long recovery times are a solenoid
valve (unloader) or the diverter valve (unloader) is failing or
system leakage. The pump may also be failing.
