MIDTERM
QUESTION#1. Give pop culture examples that you see, hear, touch or use nowadays. Explain if
those examples are good or bad for our identity as Filipinos.

(INSTRUCTIONS: ANSWER THIS QUESTION IN 2 PARAGRAPHS ONLY, NO MORE NO LESS. 1ST

PARAGRAPH IS THE ENUMERATION OF POP CULTURE EXAMPLES AND THE 2ND PARAGRAPH IS
FOR THE ANSWER IF YOU THINK THE EXAMPLES, YOU GAVE ARE GOOD OR BAD FOR THE FILIPINO
IDENTITY)

ANSWER:
The most common pop culture that you see, hear, touch or use nowadays are from social media
platforms such as facebook, Instagram, twitter, youtube especially tiktok. In fashion, commercials,
music, books, language and movies.
For me they are good but also bad for the filipino. Why? It is good because we can socialize to
others and we can bind and build some relationship to other people, we can adopt what culture
they have. It can be good because Pop culture adds more to our lives than an escape from
boredom. Authentic portrayals of events and people make us more empathetic, exposing us to
new perspectives and building bridges. Also it can be bad because of wrong doings or wrong use
of our pop culture for example the argument between Rosmar Tan the ceo of ROSMAR SKIN
CARE and Glenda ceo of BRILLIANT SKIN ESSENTIALS. There are some children watching in tiktoks
for entertainment but instead tiktoks should be entertainment it was used for dragging or
bashing or making content with a language that children should not heard. Social media
platforms now a days are not like the older days. They are not using social media platform
properly.

QUESTION #2. In the video about the 14 FILIPINO TRAITS AND VALUES I posted and we discussed
during our Gmeet, choose seven (7) Filipino traits and values that you believe must give a solid
identity to the Filipino as a heritage of proud and happy people.

(INSTRUCTIONS: THIS QUESTION REQUIRES EIGHT (8) PARAGRAPHS. ONE PARAGRAPH PER
FILIPINO TRAIT AND VALUE THAT IS IN BOLD FONT. THE SAME FILIPINO TRAIT/VALUE MUST BE
TRANSLATED IN FILIPINO/TAGALOG. THE DISCUSSION MUST FOLLOW AFTER THAT IN THE SAME
PARAGRAPH.
FINALLY, PARAGRAPH NUMBER 8 MUST SUM UP THE SEVEN TRAITS AND VALUES AND WHY
THOSE THAT YOU CHOSE WILL MAKE UP THE PROUD AND HAPPY FILIPINO}

HOSPITABILITY/MAGANDANG PAKIKITUNGO - the friendly and generous reception and

entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. Hospitability is one of the most popular traits in
filipinos. We filipinos are great in entertaining our visitors, being friendly to others and being
welcoming to other people.

RESOURCEFULNESS AND CREATIVITY/PAGIGING MALIKHAIN AT PAGIGING MAPARAAN - We

Filipinos are also known to be resourceful and creative. We are known to be creative in any way
such as arts, science, music, technology, business and so on. Just one example is the man who
went viral on Facebook because of his cartoon character artworks that he made using old or
rubber slippers. He said he thought of turning it into a toy because when he was a child, he never
had his own toy. but only his father makes his toys. so, he learned his creativity from his father.

FAITHFULNESS/PANANAMPALATAYA - Faithfulness comes from a place of trust and loyalty. It

means trusting that when we are faithful, we honor God and allow him to work in our lives.
When we are faithful, our faithful God will take care of all our needs. Many of us filipinos have
strong faith no matter what our religion is. Pinoys are known for being positive if you have faith.
and determined in everything even if it is difficult.

UNITY IN SPIRIT/BAYANIHAN - Filipinos are also famous for being helpful even if you don't know
each other or are related by blood. Even though Filipinos are often good at pranks, but when it
comes to unity, everyone unites, helps, and becomes a family. There are many of us who help
even though it is difficult. Just like when Typhoon Odette raged in the Visayas, we all united to
help our fellow Filipinos to lift themselves out of the flood.

POLITENESS/PAGIGING MAGALANG - politeness is the practical application of good manners or

etiquette so as not to offend others. It is a culturally defined phenomenon, and therefore what is
considered polite in one culture can sometimes be quite rude or simply eccentric in another
cultural context. We Filipinos use po and opo as respect for the elderly. Same as pagmamano.

FAMILY ORRIENTED/NAKATUON SA PAMILYA - a family-oriented person will always put family

first in all they do and in every decision they make. They value the well-being of the family rather
than merely considering their own interests. We Filipinos are known for being "family-oriented".
We often put the needs or well-being of our family ahead of our own happiness. We do almost
everything with our family, like going to church and eating dinner. Most Filipinos sleep side by
side in the same room even if there is another place to sleep. Because of this, our family has a
huge influence on the decisions we make. Sometimes, other people say that an individual's
behavior is based on how they were raised by their parents, which is why elders try to teach us
good manners as much as they can.

SENSE OF HUMOR/PAGKAMAPAGMATAWA - This famous trait is the ability of Filipinos to find

humor in everything. It sheds light on the optimism and positivity of Filipinos in whatever
situation they are in to remain determined in going through struggles or challenges. It serves as a
coping technique, the same way a child who has fallen laughs at himself/herself to hide his/her
embarrassment.

I chose these traits because these are the ones that are often seen in our fellow Filipinos and
even those of other races. I chose all of those because I am proud, and I am happy because we
have such behavior or traits that no other race has. We Filipinos are happy, generous, brave,
creative, and family loving
