Keep body weight at a healthy level -a combination of balanced food choices regular exercise, and
behavioral modification.
Eat a healthy diet -includes eating only the amount of food your body needs and including at least 2
servings of fish/week. Diet should be high in fiber, low in sugar and fat but rich in omega-3, found in
studies to reduce high diastolic blood pressure
Limit salt intake -of the sodium one eats is in the form of added salt at table or salt added during
processing and/or cooking of foods.
Limit alcohol.
Avoid stress build up. The chemicals the makes in response to stress make the beat harder and faster and
cause blood vessels to tighten. All make blood pressure go higher.
ACTIVITY:

• Get regular exercise-least 30 minutes of activity each day.
Exercise relieves stress and helps body weight.
• Exercise, especially brisk walking and yoga asanas like
pavanmuktasana, uttanpadasana and shavasana
• Hot foot immersion in case of high blood pressure accompanied
with headache.
MEDICATION COMPLIANCE:
• Take medications directly, if prescribe this will prevent increase i
blood pressure
• Some medications might be taken prior or post meal, as instructed by
the physician.
• Never self medicate, increase or decrease in amount of medication
